These projects may include building new trails, improving existing trails, constructing stone retaining walls, installing boardwalks, chainsaw work, and more. Members will be trained in using tools such as chainsaws, picks, pruning saws, loppers, and rock bars. Crews travel to out-of-town project sites often, camping for 10 days at a time.\u00a0 No experience or skills are required, just a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard within a diverse crew environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Term Dates:<\/strong>\u00a009\/13\/2021 &#8211; 02\/25\/2022<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Constructing &amp; maintaining trails<\/li>\n<li>Erosion control<\/li>\n<li>Construction &amp; upkeep of public land features<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining vehicles, tools, and equipment<\/li>\n<li>Camp for up to 10 days at a time<\/li>\n<li>Assist with camp duties such as cooking &amp; dishes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$1,550 per month stipend<\/li>\n<li>AmeriCorps Education Award<\/li>\n<li>Non-private student loan deferment<\/li>\n<li>First Aid &amp; CPR Certification<\/li>\n<li>FEMA Certifications<\/li>\n<li>Technical &amp; fundamental skills training<\/li>\n<li>Health insurance<\/li>\n<li>Travel &amp; camping opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to network with Texas Parks &amp; Wildlife<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or GED<\/li>\n<li>Between the ages of 21-28<\/li>\n<li>US Citizenship or lawful permanent US Resident<\/li>\n<li>Ability to pass a National Service Criminal History Check<\/li>\n<li>Ability to hike 3-10 miles per day in rugged terrain, while carrying tools<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work outdoors in all weather types while doing hard, often repetitive, labor with hand &amp; power tools<\/li>\n<li>Ability to be away on overnight trips for up to 10 days at a time<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work with a diverse group of people<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to complete the entire term of service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span class=\"how-apply-header\">HOW TO APPLY<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In nature, we know habitats that are dominated by one plant or animal are fragile and less productive.
