{"id":42788,"date":"2021-08-12T16:00:05","date_gmt":"2021-08-12T23:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/?p=42788"},"modified":"2021-08-12T16:00:05","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T23:00:05","slug":"job-outdoor-environmental-educator-ymca-of-greater-seattle-camp-orkila-eastsound-washington","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/job-outdoor-environmental-educator-ymca-of-greater-seattle-camp-orkila-eastsound-washington\/","title":{"rendered":"Job: Outdoor Environmental Educator, YMCA of Greater Seattle-Camp Orkila (Eastsound, Washington)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Job Type Temporary<br \/><strong>Fall Season:<\/strong>\u00a0August 28th-November 1st, 2021<\/p>\n<p>See full details at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservationjobboard.com\/job-listing-outdoor-environmental-educator-eastsound-washington\/1300101984\">https:\/\/www.conservationjobboard.com\/job-listing-outdoor-environmental-educator-eastsound-washington\/1300101984<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Located on one of the beaches of Orcas Island in the Puget Sound 75 miles north of Seattle, YMCA Camp Orkila offers 285 acres of beautiful forest, marine, and freshwater environments, as well as a salmon hatchery, Marine Education Center with 18,000 gallon salt water aquarium, new 1000-foot zipline, several challenge courses, and large organic garden.<\/p>\n<p>Staff members will facilitate two programs every week: The Environmental Education program, which caters to elementary and middle school groups and occurs on the weekdays, and the Weekend Family Camp program, which caters to parent\/child YMCA groups from the Seattle area and occurs on the weekends.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong>\u00a0include teaching classes in marine\/aquatic science, terrestrial ecology, earth science, and facilitating group development and challenge course activities. You will work at least two evenings a week running evening programs. All staff will work 5 days a week which will include at least one weekend day facilitating recreation activities for family camp and retreat programs.
