The Sustainability Program Coordinator will coordinate and manage the award winning Community Conservation Corps (Furman’s home weatherization program for low income homeowners in the greater Greenville community) and a range of curricular and co-curricular student sustainability programs including our EcoReps program (a peer to peer education program designed to promote sustainable behaviors through education, awareness, and connections with residence life), the Greenbelt Living Learning Community (an intentional living, learning community intended to foster sustainable living and lifestyle choices among the sixteen student residents living in the two cabins along the lake), and the Millennium Fellows program (a semester-long student leadership development program that convenes, challenges, and celebrates student leadership for the United Nation\u2019s sustainable development goals). Responsibilities:<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n
For the Community Conservation Corps:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
1.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Coordinates the weatherization of a home from start to finish \u2013 recruiting applicants, communicating with auditors and contractors, recruiting volunteers, coordinating home audits and weatherizations, analyzing audit results, and reporting energy savings.<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Contracts with building professionals to determine how to most effectively perform weatherization modifications to each applicant\u2019s home.<\/p>\n
3.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Creates and supports partnerships with potential clients, homeowners, community organizations, businesses, and government.<\/p>\n
4.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Collects and analyzes home utility data and calculates avoided greenhouse gas emissions, equating to carbon offsets generated from the program.<\/p>\n
5.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0In consultation with supervisor, pursues grant funding, and serves as the primary author on grant applications and grant reports. \u00a0Responsible for managing the CCC\u2019s budget and pacing program to use all funding appropriately during the fiscal year.<\/p>\n
6.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Maintains knowledge on advancements and innovations in home weatherization, carbon offsets, and green building.<\/p>\n
7.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Assesses CCC programmatic impact using both data metrics and anecdotal evidence.<\/p>\n
8.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Supervises CCC Student Fellow.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For the other curricular and co-curricular sustainability programs:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
1. In support of the Furman Advantage providing high-impact experiences to all Furman students, develops sustainability programing in collaboration with other Shi Institute staff. \u00a0<\/p>\n
2. Administers, manages, supports, and assesses student sustainability programs including the Eco-Reps student peer education program, Greenbelt Sustainable Living Learning Community, and student sustainability leadership programs (e.g., Millennium Fellows).<\/p>\n
3. Supervises Eco Reps Student Fellow.<\/p>\n
4. In consultation with the Executive Director and Associate Directors, serves as a public ambassador and campus and community liaison for the Shi Institute.<\/p>\n
5. Helps contribute to social outreach and education through avenues including social media and campus and community events.<\/p>\n
6.\u00a0Completes performance review process with supervisor to understand job performance expectations and how they fit into the department and university goals.<\/p>\n
7. Pursues professional development to keep pace with demands for services and information.<\/p>\n

Bachelor\u2019s degree required, in related sustainability field preferred; 2-3 years of experience in sustainability field preferred. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Experience in building science and contracting work preferred.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Experience with campus and community outreach (e.g., programming, events, communications).<\/p>\n
Excellent organizational and managerial skills.<\/p>\n
Ability to communicate effectively with others representing a variety of backgrounds \/ perspectives.<\/p>\n
