PLIA offers a dynamic work environment that fosters teamwork, diversity, inclusiveness, and opportunities for continued learning and professional growth.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>We invite you to apply for the position of Hydrogeologist 5. \u00a0As the \u00a0authority in\u00a0groundwater modeling and data management, you will\u00a0support the agency mission by performing senior level oversight and consultation on technically complex petroleum contaminated cleanup projects relating to the agency\u2019s underground storage tank (UST) and heating oil programs where groundwater impacts are present.<\/p>\n<h5>Duties<\/h5>\n<p><strong>Some of what you will enjoy doing includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Providing oversight for technically complex, highly visible or controversial hydrogeologic issues and projects\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Serving as agency expert and consultant to the Director on strategic planning, policy, and technical hydrogeologic issues\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating and providing technical review of hydrogeologic plans and reports and \u00a0recommends approval or further steps necessary to move projects toward closure that meet the substantive components of the Model Toxics Control Act\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED:<\/strong><br \/>A Bachelor\u2019s degree involving major study in hydrogeology, hydrology, geology, or closely allied field<br \/><strong>AND<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>Five years professional experience as a hydrogeologist, hydrologist, geologist, or closely allied profession at the Hydrogeologist 3 level, higher or equivalent. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>* A Master\u2019s degree with major study in hydrogeology, hydrology, geology, or closely allied field will substitute for two years of experience. \u00a0<br \/>** A PhD degree will substitute for three years of experience if major research was in hydrogeology, hydrology, geology, or closely allied field.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AND<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Possession of a valid Washington State Geologist License with Hydrogeologist endorsement<\/li>\n<li>Occasional in-state travel required, some overnight travel is anticipated<\/li>\n<li>Expert knowledge relating to hydrogeology, hydrology, geology, well hydraulics and construction standards, field surveying techniques and mapping, water sampling and monitoring techniques and procedures<\/li>\n<li>Technical skill in the practices and principles of hydrogeologic investigations<\/li>\n<li>Expert knowledge of the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) and\/or soil remediation methods for contaminated site cleanups<\/li>\n<li>Skilled in groundwater modeling applications<\/li>\n<li>Skilled in the interpretation and application of applicable rules, regulations, and policies<\/li>\n<li>Skilled in evaluating information obtained and making definitive decisions regarding compliance with state requirements<\/li>\n<li>Ability to establish and enhance collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>A valid Driver\u2019s License free from serious traffic violations<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and ethical behavior at all times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED:<\/strong><br \/>Master\u2019s degree in hydrogeology, hydrology, geology, or closely allied field\u00a0<br \/><strong>AND<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>Ten (10) years professional experience as a hydrogeologist, hydrologist, geologist, or closely allied profession at the Hydrogeologist 3 level, higher or equivalent<br \/><strong>AND<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Skilled in groundwater database development and maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Possess good communications skills, both written and oral<\/li>\n<li>Accept personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Supplemental Information<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please provide the following documents in order to be considered;
