using GPS devices to mark redd locations.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the installation, maintenance, operation, and removal of adult salmonid weirs.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Capture, identify, enumerate, handle, and tag and\/or mark adult salmonids at weir traps for mark\/recapture programs and distribution monitoring.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Assist with the installation, maintenance, operation and removal of monitoring structures and devices for adult and juvenile salmonid monitoring &#8211; such as traps and weirs.<\/li>\n<li>Collect broodstock for established enhancement and hatchery programs.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Sample and spawn fish at hatcheries.<\/li>\n<li>Accurately record and proof data collected during field activities.<\/li>\n<li>Download information from various handheld data collection devices such as data loggers, GPS units,\u00a0Passive Integrated Transponders (PIT) tag readers and Coded Wire Tag (CWT) detectors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\u00a0\n<ol>\n<li>Most of the work is conducted outdoors, during all-weather conditions, in adverse environmental conditions and includes conducting spawning ground surveys by foot or cataraft &#8211; spawned out salmon carcasses contain strong odors.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Field work includes climbing in\/out of motorized and non-motorized boats and walking up to (15) fifteen miles per day on rough terrain\/wet slippery surfaces and carrying large, live and dead fish that weigh approximately 30 \u2013 100 pounds \u2013 this includes repetitively carrying up to 70 pounds for short distances.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Approximately 15% of the work is performed in an office or laboratory setting.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\u00a0\n<ol>\n<li>Typically, Monday \u2013 Thursday \u2013 7:00 a.m. \u2013 5:00 p.m.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Workload demands may require work outside the assigned work hours and adjustment of work schedules.<\/li>\n<li>May include working on weekends and holidays as needed.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0\n<ol>\n<li>Daily travel from the duty station to\/from field locations is required.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Overnight travel may be required.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tools and Equipment:<\/strong>\u00a0\n<ol>\n<li>Basic hand\/carpentry tools, winches, pulleys\/blocks, motorized\/non-motorized watercraft, 4&#215;4 vehicles and must have the ability to tow vehicles.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>200\u2019 beach seines, PIT tag readers, CWT detectors, GPS units, weighing scales, handheld data loggers, PDAs, and computers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Customer Interactions:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Interacting with other departmental personnel, personnel from other agencies, commercial fishers, and the public.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Qualifications<\/h5>\n<p><strong>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Graduation from high school\/GED, including one year of high school science\u00a0<strong>AND<\/strong>\u00a0Two (2) years of experience as a Scientific Technician 1. \u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0OR\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Graduation from high school\/GED including one year of high school science\u00a0<strong>AND<\/strong>\u00a0Two (2) years of laboratory or field experience as an assistant to a biologist, chemist, or zoologist.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>AND\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basic operation of a personal computer.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to do basic functions in Microsoft Office and Access.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Certifications\/Licenses:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>A valid driver\u2019s license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ability to:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify salmonids and other fish species in larval, juvenile and\/or adult life stages.<\/li>\n<li>Identify salmonid redds.<\/li>\n<li>Row non-motorized, oar-framed boats such as drift boats and catarafts in white water conditions &#8211;
