$4,286 a month<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"jobsearch-JobDescriptionSection-sectionItem\">\n<div class=\"jobsearch-JobDescriptionSection-sectionItemKey icl-u-textBold\">Job Type: Full-time<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>See full job and application details at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indeed.com\/viewjob?jk=25a84e91da3ea98f&amp;tk=1fajmmhtio17j800&amp;from=serp&amp;vjs=3\">https:\/\/www.indeed.com\/viewjob?jk=25a84e91da3ea98f&amp;tk=1fajmmhtio17j800&amp;from=serp&amp;vjs=3<\/a><\/p>\n<div><b>Duties<\/b><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>Our European Green Crab (EGC) Biologist,<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conducts monitoring and assessments for European Green Crab (EGC) under the supervision of the lead biologist.<\/li>\n<li>Trains staff to properly conduct European Green Crab (EGC) monitoring using established protocols.<\/li>\n<li>Supervises Scientific Technician 2\u2019s in European Green Crab (EGC) assessments throughout marine waters of Washington State.<\/li>\n<li>Obtains permission to work on private and public property.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinates with other entities (i.e. Washington Sea Grant, Northwest Straits Commission, Lummi Nation, etc.), while conducting European Green Crab (EGC) work.<\/li>\n<li>Summarizes data, drafts summaries, prepares reports or report segments.<\/li>\n<li>Assists in the review and\/or development of mitigation plans.<\/li>\n<li>Reviews environmental documents, or portions of the documents, from local governments, state, and federal agencies, and private individuals or organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Makes initial determination and\/or recommends conditions of permits.<\/li>\n<li>Works with lead biologist to determine techniques and procedures, and\/or performs field investigations or research projects, and assists in preparing management\/research reports or proposals based on those activities.<\/li>\n<li>Conducts quality control and quality assurance on all data collected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Work is mostly conducted in the field and at times in the office.<\/li>\n<li>Field work is performed during the day\/night, outdoors, alone or with a team, in remote locations, and during all weather conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Field work is physically demanding and includes hiking up to 10 miles per day, carrying a 75 lb. backpack of equipment throughout Washington\u2019s vast marine environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Schedule:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Typically \u2013 Monday \u2013 Thursday &#8211; 8:00 a.m. \u2013 7:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Workload demands may require work outside the assigned work hours and adjustment of work schedules \u2013 may be required to respond on short notice to rapid response AIS emergencies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Travel Requirements:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Frequent statewide travel and overnight stays up to five days at a time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Tools and Equipment:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Desktops, laptops, smart phones, electronic tablets, electronic software forms, Personal Flotation Devise (PFDs), and field gear (i.e. hip boots, xtratuffs, raingear).<\/li>\n<li>Complex mobile water quality laboratory, eDNA, and non-electronic biological and environmental sampling devices.<\/li>\n<li>Must safely transport and operate large equipment which includes a 25-foot cargo trailer, watercraft, flatbed trailer, winches, motor vehicles, and complex hot water trailered pressure washers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Customer Interactions:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>Interacts with the public on a regular basis conducting outreach and educational events, presentations, and monitoring \u2013 occasionally confronted with citizens that are non-compliant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><b>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/b><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor&#8217;s degree in fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, environmental science, or a related field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>OR<\/b><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Professional equivalent experience may substitute, year for year, for the education requirement \u2013 this experience must be in aquatic invasive species, fish, wildlife, or natural resource management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Certifications\/Licenses:<\/b><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Valid Driver\u2019s License.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Masters Degree, or a higher level degree in fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource science, or environmental science or a related field.<\/li>\n<li>Three (3) years of experience in a natural resources-related field.<\/li>\n<li>One (1) year of experience in the Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) field.<\/li>\n<li>One (1) year of experience managing and monitoring European green crab populations.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to ID invasive and native crab species.<\/li>\n<li>Familiar with aquatic invasive species management principles and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Familiar with and able to develop, implement, and manage statewide biological studies and management actions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Experience with:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preparing comprehensive written reports.<\/li>\n<li>Database construction, management, and routine analysis functions.<\/li>\n<li>Managing a heavy workload.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>Supplemental Information<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><b>Please note: Failure to follow the instructions below may lead to disqualification.<\/b><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>In order to successfully apply for this position, you MUST complete your profile at\u00a0<b>www.careers.wa.gov<\/b>\u00a0and attach the following to your profile before completing the online application:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0<b>cover letter<\/b>\u00a0describing how you meet the qualifications of this position (Generic cover letter will not be accepted).<\/li>\n<li><b>A current resume.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Three professional references.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>IMPORTANT NOTES:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>All new employees must complete an Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9 Form) on their first day of work.
