We mobilize individuals to inspire and engage in environmental citizenship. The Southern California Mountains Foundation supports youth development through conservation initiatives integrating environmental education, training and hands-on service projects;\u00a0 protects our natural resources through adult and family-led programming; and provides interpretive services that focus on outdoor recreation, responsible use, and stewardship of our natural environment.\u00a0 The Southern California Mountains Foundation is comprised of 30 full-time staff,\u00a0 75-100 part-time employees and 750 volunteers.\u00a0 We achieve our mission through seven programs: (1) Urban Conservation Corps of the Inland Empire, (2) Big Bear Discovery Center, (3) Off-Highway Vehicles, (4) Fire Lookouts, (5) National Children\u2019s Forest, (6) Music in the Mountains and (7) Big Bear Valley Trails.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Introduction to the Urban Conservation Corps of the Inland Empire:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Urban Conservation Corps of the Inland Empire (UCCIE) is a certified Local Conservation Corps founded in 2006, by the late Bobby Vega and Sandy Bonilla, out of a need to provide employment training to underserved transition age youth\/young adults at risk of incarceration in the City of San Bernardino.\u00a0 The goal of the UCCIE is to provide at-risk transition age youth with opportunities to succeed through job skills training, education and work experience with an emphasis on conservation and service projects that benefit the community.\u00a0 The UCCIE is the largest program of the Southern California Mountains Foundation with three main focus areas; 1. recycling service, 2. conservation services and 3. corpsmember development with an on-site John Muir charter school.\u00a0 The UCCIE has an annual budget of 3.5 million, and is primarily funded by a variety of government grants, corporate and foundation grants, and fee for service projects.\u00a0 The UCCIE department has 15 full time staff that hire and train 50-60 young adult corpsmembers annually to work on conservation and recycling project in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The UCCIE Supervisor position is responsible for providing guidance and leadership to corpsmembers enrolled in the Urban Conservation Corps of the Inland Empire. The crew supervisor must have a passion for working with young adults and a commitment to helping them. Supervisors are expected to be field teachers that supervise and help youth or young adults build social, life and job skills that help them become successful in life and help them build positive attitudes toward work.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reports to:<\/strong>\u00a0Recycling or Conservation Department Manager<\/p>\n<p><strong>Direct Reports:<\/strong>\u00a08-10 Corpsmembers<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours:<\/strong>\u00a0Primary work hours 7:00am &#8211; 3:30pm, Monday through Friday and some evenings and weekends as scheduled\/needed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a02 positions- San Bernardino Office\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential functions and duties will include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide supervisory oversight to ensure that corpsmembers are completing quality work that meets the standards of the clients or partners<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the on-site project liaison to program managers, sponsors, clients and\/or partners- and stay in communication with them during the project<\/li>\n<li>Manage daily crew logistics to ensure appropriate tools, vehicles, gear, communication and other necessary items have been provided<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that corpsmembers are supervised in a way that can help build and promote positive attitudes toward work and toward others<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the safety of corpsmembers to include preventing violence or conflicts among the crew. Work with the UCC Director of Corps Operation and UCCIE Corps Development manager in intervening in conflicts between corpsmembers and staff<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that corpsmembers are learning social, life and job skills<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the UCC property, tools, equipment, supplies are maintained and not lost or stolen. Report any damage or loss to the Warehouse Manager.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Review and share weekly UCCIE crew schedule with corpsmembers<\/li>\n<li>Provide daily feedback to UCCIE Manager on project accomplishments and\/or project setbacks\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Attend safety training and provide learned skills to corpsmembers to minimize injuries among corpsmembers in the field.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in field technical trainings to obtain technical skills necessary for project delivery<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the UCC related work projects are in compliance with safety related regulations and complete all injury related documentation immediately upon any injuries in the field.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that corpsmembers adhere to UCC regulations at all times; uniforms, boots, safety wear, etc.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Complete Daily Report (DR) forms for all work project sand ensure appropriate funding codes and signatures are completed prior to being submitted<\/li>\n<li>Maintain documentation for daily accomplishments,\u00a0 vehicle mileage, incident reports and other forms as necessary\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Work closely with UCC Managers for purchasing needs of equipment and supplies needed for projects<\/li>\n<li>Assist in identifying and recruiting young people to the Corps<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of High School Diploma<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of two years of experience in a conservation corps, public land management or a related field that manages similar participants<\/li>\n<li>Excellent organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with diverse young adults( 18-25 years of age), as well as young adults that are or have been involved in the justice system<\/li>\n<li>Excellent leadership skills and ability to resolve conflicts<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with community-based agencies (non-profits), services and resources<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail and ability to multitask and manage priorities<\/li>\n<li>Strong initiative, good work ethic, and desire to advance the organization<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservationjobboard.com\/job-listing-urban-conservation-corps-crew-supervisor-san-bernardino-california\/job-listing-director-of-operations---nevada-conservation-corps-reno-nevada\/566126462\">Microsoft<\/a>\u00a0Office, and plus if knowledgeable in Google applications (Docs, Sheets, etc)<\/li>\n<li>Must have a valid driver\u2019s license with a clean record<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to obtain a Class B driver\u2019s license within 90 days of employment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Compensation:\u00a0<\/strong>This is a full-time position with a work schedule of Monday through Friday (or 5 days per week) from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch.
