The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, fundraising activities, and strategic planning of the organization. Other key duties include marketing and community outreach.<\/p>\n<p>The ideal candidate is driven, well-organized and self-sufficient, with high emotional intelligence and a passion for environmental conservation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h5><strong><u>Primary Responsibilities<\/u><\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Fund Development &amp; Donor Relations<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement a strategic and well-balanced fundraising effort that addresses the developmental needs of the organization and creates a sustainable future.<\/li>\n<li>Create annual fundraising plans and manage all events and campaigns.<\/li>\n<li>Lead the approaches, initiatives, and communications with current and potential donors; work with the board of directors to cultivate and build relationships with donors.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Oversee SHADOW\u2019s grant process by researching available grant options, maintaining strong relationships with grant providers, maintaining a grant calendar, and lead in writing grant applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Operations &amp; Leadership<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization and ensure its overall successful long-term operations.<\/li>\n<li>Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff.<\/li>\n<li>Provide guidance and oversight of the staff and leverage staff experience and insights.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that SHADOW&#8217;s operations are legally above board and work to align SHADOW&#8217;s operations with the Land Trust Alliance&#8217;s Standards &amp; Practices.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain a working knowledge of developments\/trends in the field of non-profits: management and fund development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Outreach &amp; Communications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve as the organization\u2019s primary spokesperson at community activities\/events.<\/li>\n<li>Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with other community organizations. Ensure representation for SHADOW at community meetings including local chamber meetings.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee branding and communications strategy through all communications channels to raise community awareness of SHADOW\u2019s mission and vision.<\/li>\n<li>Lead SHADOW\u2019s outreach efforts including developing and overseeing SHADOW\u2019s annual outreach calendar and production of SHADOW\u2019s digital\/social media content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong><u>Qualifications<\/u><\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 3-years of experience in nonprofit leadership and\/or a development position.<\/li>\n<li>4-Year University degree in a relevant field.<\/li>\n<li>Strong networking\/fundraising skills; active fundraising experience in donor stewardship, grant writing\/management, campaigns, and fundraising events is highly desired.<\/li>\n<li>Self-motivated, self-starter passionate about SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve&#8217;s mission and excited to explore creative ways to advance that mission.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning abilities. Ability to envision and convey an organization&#8217;s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, and donors.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with people.<\/li>\n<li>Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.<\/li>\n<li>Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to engage and effectively collaborate with the Board of Directors.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to coach, delegate and empower employees.<\/li>\n<li>High level of resourcefulness, creativity, and solid organizational leadership<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
