This is expected to be a .5 FTE, 9-month position starting in August 1, 2021.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>EARTHLAB\u00a0is a visionary institute that pushes boundaries to address our most pressing environmental challenges, with a current focus on climate and its intersection with social justice.\u00a0EARTHLAB\u00a0does this by connecting the University of Washington (UW) to communities, businesses, non-profits, public agencies, Tribal nations and others to co-produce actionable research that generates solutions and strategies for local and global impact.\u00a0EARTHLAB\u2019s vision, an equitable, just and sustainable world where people and planet thrive, supports one of the University\u2019s biggest goals. As a Carnegie-classified Community Engagement University, the UW aspires to be the #1 university in the world as measured by impact.\u00a0EARTHLAB\u00a0is inspired by and committed to this challenge.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<b>EARTHLAB\u00a0Innovation Grants Specialist<\/b>\u00a0reports to the Executive Director of\u00a0EARTHLAB, supporting the development and implementation of the Innovation Grants Program. This position is located on the Seattle Campus but will include flexibility for some remote work. The Innovation Grants Program (EARTHLAB.uw.edu\/grants) invests in teams of University of Washington researchers, students, and community partners who are developing innovative solutions to pressing environmental challenges with a focus on climate change and its intersection with social justice, a strategic priority for\u00a0EARTHLAB.<\/p>\n<p>Duties for the Temporary\u00a0EARTHLAB\u00a0Innovation Grants Specialist will include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Lead the release of the Innovation Grants Program Request for Proposals and the grant application, review and selection processes for \u201c3rd Cohort\u201d<br \/>\u2022 Work closely with the\u00a0EARTHLAB\u00a0Executive Director and Communications Lead to coordinate the launch of the Request for Proposals and the announcement of new grantees, as well as to update the website as needed<br \/>\u2022 Lead virtual and in-person Information Sessions both on and off-campus for University of Washington faculty, students and staff and community organizations<br \/>\u2022 Hold regular \u201coffice hours\u201d during the grant application process<br \/>\u2022 Support existing grantee teams, including UW researchers, students, and staff, in the administration of their Innovation grants<br \/>\u2022 Work closely with\u00a0EARTHLAB\u2019s Administrator to oversee the grant budgets and ensure compliance with University policies and procedures<br \/>\u2022 Oversee the reporting and close-out process for \u201c2nd Cohort\u201d of Innovation grantees<br \/>\u2022 Support opportunities for public outreach to highlight\u00a0EARTHLAB\u00a0grant-funded activities and achievements. This may entail creating summaries of impact in conjunction with the\u00a0EARTHLAB\u00a0Communications Lead and the College of the Environment Advancement team.<br \/>\u2022 Develop a resource list on climate change, climate mitigation, climate justice, and community engagement resources (including academic literature and community-generated reports, for example) for the incoming 2022 grantee cohort<\/p>\n<p><b>Position Qualifications:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Required:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree, preferably in a environmentally-related discipline<br \/>\u2022 4 years of professional experience related to grant coordination\/management or grant programs, program coordination, program administration, or operations management<br \/>\u2022 Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment<br \/>\u2022 Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and manage competing priorities and deadlines using strong organizational skills<br \/>\u2022 Excellent office computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive and a willingness to learn other applications\/programs as necessary<\/p>\n<p><b>Desired:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience working in climate justice or environmental work<br \/>\u2022 Experience with community engagement and\/or community-based participatory research<\/p>\n<p><i>Equivalent education and experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as a license, certification, or registration.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Diversity Equity and Inclusion:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>EARTHLAB\u00a0acknowledges the systemic racism that exists in the environmental sector and within environmentalism.
