Planners on this team also offer land use information to the public and provide technical support services to other City agencies. \u00a0This position reports to the team&#8217;s zoning supervisors.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0Please note this recruitment is in conjunction with a Land Use Planner II posting (2021-00835). \u00a0If you would like to be considered for that position, you will need to apply to that job as well.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0Our Department is committed to the City&#8217;s Race and Social Justice Initiative and requires a demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0This position is currently funded through 12\/31\/2022 with the possibility of extension.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Review development proposals, including platting actions, for compliance with Seattle&#8217;s land use code and other land use and environmental regulations\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Review and examine land use and construction permit applications for compliance with development standards that include use, bulk and siting of structures, landscaping, tree protection, and adherence to Mandatory Housing Affordability.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Conduct discretionary review, analysis, and preparation of written land use decisions, primarily for platting actions.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>In person and in writing, provide information to the public, department associates, City agencies, and other jurisdictions about Seattle&#8217;s land use regulations.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Interpret and apply knowledge of municipal codes and policies governing urban, environmental, urban design, and land use.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Screen permit applications for proposed development, to facilitate complete information for subsequent review.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate across agencies and City departments to facilitate project review.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Requires a bachelor&#8217;s degree in urban design, urban planning, environmental studies, law, architecture, building construction technology, or a closely related field. (Combinations of education, training and\/or experience which provide an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class will be considered.
