The two-person team will be responsible for completing a diverse array of recreation management tasks at OHV riding areas along the Eastern front of the Sierra Nevada Range.\u00a0In coordination with the USDA Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Great Basin Institute and the Nevada OHV Program, the Interagency Rec Techs will enhance existing OHV trailheads and actively participate in trainings and events hosted by OHV Stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>Technicians will gain a greater understanding of land management policies, quantitative, and qualitative data collection.\u00a0Recreation site maintenance includes sign\/kiosk installs, brushing, litter patrol, education and outreach at consistent intervals. Special projects include attending community events, supporting mechanized work prioritized by land managers, and public outreach supporting OHV Registrations and responsible recreation.\u00a0Dependent on performance and completion of work term this position can qualify for Public Lands Corps (PLC) status given that the applicant is 30 years old or younger at the time of GBI employment.<\/p>\n<p>Field work includes:<br \/>\n&#8211; Maintaining Signage and Trailhead sites based on Land Manager best management practices;<br \/>\n&#8211; Participate in and facilitate projects that improve user experience;<br \/>\n&#8211; Support annual OHV grant projects by participating in public events; and<br \/>\n&#8211; Education and outreach about public lands, safe OHV operations, and conservation ethics.<\/p>\n<p>Additional duties include:<br \/>\n&#8211; Regular communication with GBI, NOHVP, BLM, USFS Staff;<br \/>\n&#8211; Engagement in agency trainings; and<br \/>\n&#8211; Public Speaking and project update presentations at live and virtual events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contract Timeline: Start date July 2021 with a contract length for 1040 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Flexibility to work around student schedules may be available.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Compensation and Benefits: Rate of Pay: $15.00 &#8211; 16.50 per hour depending on experience<br \/>\nPaid health insurance (medical, dental and vision) at no cost to employee<br \/>\nPaid holidays and personal leave<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree or relevant coursework in recreation\/wilderness management, natural resources, or equivalent field experience;<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience collecting field data and\/or following established field collection protocols;<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience using a GPS unit to navigate and collect spatial data;<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to read and navigate using USGS topographic maps and a compass;<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience writing project reports and\/or presenting technical data in an organized and understandable manner;<br \/>\n\u2022 Familiarity with the MS Office suite of software;<br \/>\n\u2022 Motivated, self-starter, detail oriented, and possess good organizational skills;<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to work in remote locations;<br \/>\n\u2022 Willingness to work to accomplish the goals and mission of the project;<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to work in harsh and rapidly changing environments, traverse uneven terrain and withstand strenuous exertion;<br \/>\n\u2022 Clean, valid, state-issued driver\u2019s license with ability to safely operate an off-highway vehicle, as well as a 4WD pickup on paved and unpaved roads<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":3815,"featured_media":34097,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"_s2mail":"yes"},"categories":[15],"tags":[4,28,33,141,13,131,9],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/41384"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3815"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=41384"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/41384\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":41385,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/41384\/revisions\/41385"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/34097"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=41384"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=41384"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sites.evergreen.edu\/mesweekly\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=41384"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
