AESS is excited to announce the Opening Plenary for 2021 will\u00a0begin\u00a0with an international panel and\u00a0a discussion of education about climate change around the world. A \u201creal time\u201d virtual discussion of educators from South America, Central Europe, South Asia, the US and the Asian Pacific (recorded) will consider the state of higher education about climate justice and climate solutions in their region.<\/p>\n
Each speaker is a participant in\u00a0Solve Climate by 2030<\/a>, an initiative in coordinated climate education led by the Bard College Center for Environmental Policy. Dr. Eban Goodstein, Director of the Bard CEP, will describe how they organized more than 110 Global Dialogs that reached more than 15,000 students and others around the world in April 2021. He will also talk about how educators can #MakeClimateAClass using recordings from the Global Dialogs. Dr. Goodstein will discuss how AESS members can get involved in the Worldwide Teach-In on Climate and Justice to take place March 30, 2022.<\/p>\n The speakers, part of the Open Society University Network, are from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), Central European University, BRAC University (Bangladesh), University of Rhode Island and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU). The opening plenary panel will be followed by a lvirtual discussion where all conference participants can communicate with the speakers.<\/p>\n There will also be a session on June 29 about the\u00a0Worldwide Teach-In on Climate and Justice<\/a>.<\/p>\n Register at: https:\/\/aessconference.org\/registration\/<\/a><\/p>\n Our virtual event offers pre-recorded individual and panel presentations viewable by attendees two weeks prior to our event.
