Boat Ramp: June 24, 2021 \u2013 September 30, 2021\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>WDFW staff comprise a talented and passionate group of people dedicated to protecting Washington\u2019s Fish &amp; Wildlife Resources. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Become part of a dynamic team that is invested in making a difference in the conservation of Washington State\u2019s salmon, marine fish, and shellfish species.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thrive on building collaboration and teamwork while performing creel (angler surveys), sampling, and gathering data.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you then apply today and join the WDFW Team<\/strong><strong>! \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>With that in mind,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Picture yourself\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>collecting and summarizing recreational salmon and marine fish catch and biological data to meet fisheries sampling goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>These are opportunities to,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>obtain stock composition, age structure (scales), length information for legal and sublegal proportions, and hatchery\/natural-origin proportions (clipped\/un-clipped status).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The optimal applicants<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0are team players who take pride in their work, are motivated, dependable, respectful, and able to easily establish rapport.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>We are seeking candidates,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0who respect and value the opinions of others, creating an inclusive team environment where every member feels they contribute value to the project and WDFW.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Duties<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong><em>Our Scientific Technician 2, \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Samples recreational fisheries for salmon, marine fish and shellfish catch.<\/li>\n<li>Determines catch per unit of effort and species composition in order to obtain valid sport catch estimates for salmon and marine fish.<\/li>\n<li>Collects salmon snouts for coded-wire tags (CWT) and as well as other biological data.<\/li>\n<li>Properly implements interview procedures and sampling protocols.<\/li>\n<li>Accurately records data into appropriate electronic data forms.<\/li>\n<li>Observes, counts, and accurately identifies all salmon, marine fish, and shellfish species.<\/li>\n<li>Samples all Coho and Chinook salmon with electronic CWT detection devices (handheld wand or tunnel detectors).<\/li>\n<li>Classifies, sorts, and enumerates marked tagged, marked untagged, unmarked tagged, and unmarked untagged salmon.<\/li>\n<li>Retrieves snouts with CWTs from Chinook and Coho to determine stock specific impacts for fisheries modeling.<\/li>\n<li>Samples catch to obtain stock composition, age structure (scales), length information (legal and sublegal proportions), and hatchery\/natural-origin proportions (mark-status).<\/li>\n<li>Performs data review\/summary and conducts error checks of sampling data.<\/li>\n<li>Provides sport fishing regulatory information to the public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Work is primarily conducted in the field and on boats &#8211;
