The Beet Box provides free urban gardening education in the Othello community, with the goal of building a stronger and healthier community. Our classes are based in South Seattle, primarily in the New Holly Market and Rainier Beach Learning Gardens. We are looking to fill the following position for 2021. Find more information about The Beet Box at www.beetboxseattle.org <\/a><\/p>\n Job Title:<\/p>\n URBAN GARDENING INTERN (Part-time)<\/p>\n June 1 to August 31, 2021<\/p>\n Description:<\/p>\n The Beet Box is looking for four (4) interns to assist in our gardens, in Southeast Seattle. Interns will work with mentors to complete garden tasks such as:<\/p>\n \u25cf General maintenance including weeding, watering, planting seeds & starts, and harvesting.<\/p>\n \u25cf Organizing shed and greenhouses as necessary.<\/p>\n \u25cf Packaging produce to be donated to the local community.<\/p>\n \u25cf Other garden tasks as determined.<\/p>\n Requirements:<\/p>\n \u25cf Applicants should be between the age of 16-21 years and reside in Southeast Seattle.<\/p>\n \u25cf Work will be completed outside rain or shine.<\/p>\n \u25cf No prior gardening\/farming experience is necessary. We are looking for individuals interested in healthy food, food justice, and community activism. The ideal candidate is punctual, team-oriented, and willing to learn.<\/p>\n \u25cf We welcome and encourage Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, LGBTQ+, and people with disabilities to apply.<\/p>\n Logistics:<\/p>\n \u25cf Internship will run from June 1 to August 31, 2021.<\/p>\n \u25cf This is a paid internship requiring 4 hours per week at $15\/hr.
