This position will be located in our Northwest Regional Office (NWRO) Located in\u00a0Shoreline, WA.<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Agency and Program Mission<\/strong>: \u00a0Ecology\u2019s mission is to protect, preserve and enhance Washington’s environment, and promote the wise management of our air, land and water. Accidental spills of dangerous materials and past business practices have contaminated land and water throughout the state. The Toxics Cleanup Program (TCP) works to remedy these situations, which range from cleaning up contamination from leaking underground storage tanks, to large, complex projects requiring engineering solutions. Our mission is to get and keep contaminants out of the environment.<\/p>\n Former smelter operations, areas of long term application of pesticides, mining activities, and or distribution of naturally occurring contaminants are activities that have taken a toll on the quality of our environment. The management of contamination resulting from these sources requires a multi-agency and multi-programmatic approach of unprecedented complexity as it establishes a unique partnership with federal and local agencies to clean up high priority, area-wide contamination that spreads across multiple media.<\/p>\n Under administrative direction, the\u00a0Everett Smelter Plume Source Assessment, Control & Remediation Program Expert<\/strong>\u00a0position serves as:<\/p>\n Flexibility is essential<\/strong>– the person will periodically need to attend public meetings in the evening or festivals on the weekend.<\/dd>\n Required Qualifications:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n A Bachelor’s degree involving a major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field\u00a0AND<\/strong>\u00a0six (6) years of professional-level experience in environmental analysis or control, or environmental planning which includes two (2) years equal to an Environmental Specialist 3 or above.<\/p>\n OR\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n A Master’s degree in one of the above fields\u00a0AND<\/strong>\u00a0four (4) years of professional- level experience as required above which includes two (2) years equal to an Environmental Specialist 3 or above.<\/p>\n OR\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n A Ph.D. in one of the above fields\u00a0AND<\/strong>\u00a0three (3) years of professional-level experience as required above which includes two (2) years equal to an Environmental Specialist 3 or above.<\/p>\n Experience may substitute for education per the below options:<\/p>\n
