Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this position currently works remotely. This job posting may be closed at any time without notice.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Wolf Management Team Supervisor and Policy Lead ensures the effective implementation of WDFW\u2019s Conservation Initiative principals, agency Strategic Plan, Wildlife Program Conservation Plan, and the Wolf Conservation and Management Plan for the conservation and restoration of Washington\u2019s recovering wolf population.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This key position manages intergovernmental relationships with land management agencies, USFWS, and tribal and local governments to recover wolves. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As such it is vital in the development of public outreach strategies to promote social tolerance of both a recovered wolf population as well as public support for wolf management plan implementation. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><strong><em>With that in mind,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Picture yourself as lead<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0for the Director\u2019s Wolf Advisory Group and Coordinating with the Interagency Wolf Management Group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>This is an opportunity to\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>represent the Director and agency on state and national panels associated with wolf conservation and management, wildlife conflict, and carnivore management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>In this dynamic role,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0you will brief the Governor, the Fish and Wildlife Commission, the Director\u2019s Office, Regional Directors, Legislators, and County Commissioners on wolf management activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>As our Wolf Management Supervisor and Policy Lead, you\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>coordinate with agricultural communities and land management entities permitting livestock agricultural leases on techniques for avoiding and minimizing wolf-livestock conflict.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>As a supervisor, you will<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0lead a team of dedicated wolf biologists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>With your experience, you will<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0work with the Game Division Manager, assist in setting priorities and funding of $2.0M in wolf management funding each biennium.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Duties<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Our<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong>Wolf Management Team Supervisor,<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Represents the agency in State, Federal, and Tribal forums and other stakeholder groups as designated by the Director and\/or Program Director.<\/li>\n<li>Directs efforts to ensure communities and partners across Washington recognize and support the contributions of the Wildlife Program to the conservation and recovery of wolves.<\/li>\n<li>Drafts legislation, policies, and completes bill analysis, fiscal notes, and legislative testimony on wolf recovery and management.<\/li>\n<li>Responds to Governor\u2019s Office, legislators, Office of Financial Management, tribes, and federal, state, and local agency requests for information about wolf recovery, carnivore management, and related endangered species issues.<\/li>\n<li>Supports effective communications throughout the Program and Agency.<\/li>\n<li>Maintains the highest standards of personal\/professional and ethical conduct and supports the state\u2019s goal for a diverse workforce.<\/li>\n<li>Supervises staff responsible for coordinating agency communications to the public related to wolves, developing a post-recovery wolf plan, and implementing on-the-ground management actions associated with the current wolf conservation and management plan (e.g., population surveys, trapping, collaring, and implementing lethal removal efforts).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:<\/strong>\u00a0Work is primarily in an office setting. May occasionally require nighttime meetings. \u00a0Will require travel across the state for meetings, developing and fostering partnerships. This position is expected to participate in public meetings regarding wolf management that may be contentious.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Schedule:<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0M-F 8-5.
