Oregon Trails Coalition is pleased to be partnering with U.S. Forest Service Region 6, Bureau of Land Management OR-WA Office, Clackamas Community College, and other partners to make available a specialized first aid and CPR certification program for staff and volunteers performing trails stewardship activities on our public lands.<\/p>\n

This Basic First Aid and CPR Certification with a Wilderness Focus offered through Clackamas Community College has two required parts:<\/p>\n
An online, self-paced learning module (4-6 hours) to be completed in advance of the onsite skills assessment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
An in-person skills verifcation (6-8 hours).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n By registering for this program through one of the links below, you will receive the following at least two weeks before the scheduled skills verification: a participation waiver, information on how to access the online training portal, and information about what bring and what to expect at the in-person training.<\/p>\n The online learning module must be completed in advance of the in-person skills verificaiton.<\/p>\n Skills verification will be offered outdoors in groups of up to 5 participants per instructor. Skills verification will require participants to interact with others in their small group as practice patients and aid providers with COVID precautions in place.<\/p>\n Successful completion of the program will result in a 1st Aid\/CPR card valid for 2 years.<\/p>\n CCC uses the Health and Safety Institutes (HSI) Medic First Aid curriculum.\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n The trainings offered here are meant for trail stewardship staff and volunteers serving as crew leaders and\/or pursuing sawyer certification for trail work conducted on public lands.<\/p>\n Training costs for identified partner organization volunteers are being subsidized with funds from USFS-Region 6, Bureau of Land Management, Cascade Volunteers, Trailkeepers of Oregon, Pacific Crest Trails Association, Northwest Trail Alliance, and Central Oregon Trail Alliance.<\/p>\n Please pay what you can to ensure we can train as many volunteers as possible with their support.<\/p>\n Questions: Contact Stephanie Noll,\u00a0steph.noll@oregontrailscoalition.org<\/a>\u00a0| 503-290-4569.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n More dates and locations will be added below as they are confirmed.
