This internship will assist in translating K-12 Education curriculum, Estuarium exhibits (both virtual and printed), and marketing materials. This position will help create opportunities to engage the Hispanic and Latinx communities and enhance the Estuarium\u2019s programs to meet community outreach needs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Increase the number of bilingual publications, signage, and programming at the Estuarium, including but not limited to: environmental education materials in Spanish, Estuarium interpretation, curriculum kits, exhibits, marketing materials, and website options in Spanish.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Be a part of the development and implementation of exhibit interpretation both written and verbally.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Create, document, and organize lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations in a professional manner by shadowing and learning from the current Estuarium staff, and by independent research.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Coordinate with and identify Hispanic and Latinx organizations and groups to implement programming and foster partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Host additional bilingual interpretation and\/or environmental education events at local beaches and at the Estuarium.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Assist with environmental education events, outreach, and participation in other duties such as Pier Peer, Discovery Speaker Series, Meet the Beach, and Harbor Days.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Foster learning opportunities that inspire people of all ages to connect with, protect, and enjoy the unique estuary environment of south Puget Sound<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Promote and practice stewardship of the Estuarium\u2019s facility and local beaches<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Currently enrolled in college course in communications, business or public administration, or related field,<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 or Recent graduate in fields listed above.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proficient in Spanish both written and oral required.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Excellent listening and communication skills. Good public speaking skills; comfortable speaking to diverse groups of people.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Excels at working with a wide variety of community members\/volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Interpersonal skills essential for working collaboratively with staff, board, donors, partners, and the regional community.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Computer proficiency with knowledge of MS Office applications.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to be self-directed and work within a team environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Must possess a valid Driver\u2019s License.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 CLEAN Background check is required before selection.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Previous work or related experience in community development and communications desired.<\/p>\n<p>Applicant will use their own personal computer and easily learn new computer programs\/apps.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>TERM <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The term of the internship is 120 hours over 3 months:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Spring internship \u2013 March through May<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Summer internship \u2013 June through August<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Fall internship \u2013 September through November<\/p>\n<p>This internship is paid at a rate of $13.69\/hr.
