Contact nearshore and black\/blue rockfish permit holders to obtain late logbooks and coach fishers in the correct way to fill out the logbook per regulations. Error check logbooks and data through analysis of the information. Investigate discrepancies by interviewing vessel and processor plant personnel as needed to ensure correct information is recorded in logbooks. Compile compliance reports and disseminate to fishers and Oregon State Police for possible enforcement action.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\u2022 Analyze data, write reports, provide analysis and conduct evaluations for direct application in commercial fishery management. Produce charts and graphs from data for reports and presentations. Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of marine finfish species data for use in fishery management. Prepare written reports, including but not limited to the Commercial Nearshore Logbook Report presented annually to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\u2022 Train, coordinate and oversee the work of Oregon\u2019s albacore samplers. Sample Oregon\u2019s commercial albacore fishery, collect fishing trip data, and examine and measure samples of vessels\u2019 albacore catch. Enter and error check catch data and sample data for Oregon\u2019s albacore sampling program. Prepare monthly albacore sampling reports and send to other agencies. Act as liaison between ODFW and National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) for albacore fishery issues including sampling questions, problems, and requests. Answer albacore questions from industry, public, and media.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\n<b>Working Conditions <\/b><br \/>\n\u2022 Time will be split between office and field work. Frequent (daily or almost daily) visits to docks at irregular hours which at times involves exposure to inclement weather.\u00a0 Sampling is done daily during albacore season (approximately July-October) in commercial fish processing plants around moving equipment such as forklifts; floors are often wet and may be slippery. Sampling is sometimes done inside cold storage rooms. Lifting fish often weighing 15 to 25 pounds is required. Monthly trips via car to attend meetings in distant ports, and daily use of vehicle. Occasional work on vessels at sea where difficult ocean conditions may occur. Office work involves entering data, analyzing data and writing daily reports.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\u2022 Requires a flexible work schedule that varies in the number of hours worked on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, or a work schedule in which the starting and stopping times vary on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day. This includes working at all hours and workdays in excess of eight hours.\n<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\"><b>Criminal Records\/DMV Check<\/b><br \/>\nApplicants\u00a0are subject to both a\u00a0criminal history and motor vehicles check. <b>Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current <u>certified<\/u> driving record for review to be considered for the position.
