This position will be located in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecy.wa.gov\/programs\/eap\/labs\/index.html\">Laboratory Accreditation Unit<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.manchesterwa.org\/\">Manchester, WA<\/a>. \u00a0The Department of Ecology is the accrediting institution in Washington State for environmental laboratories, including those that test drinking water.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Lab Accreditation Administrative Specialist\u00a0<\/strong>position facilitates the accreditation of environmental laboratories to assure that they are capable of providing accurate and defensible data to the Department of Ecology, Department of Health, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other entities that require the use of accredited laboratories. The administrative specialist manages the accreditation database and facilitates the efficient operation of the Laboratory Accreditation Unit.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for an environmental science professional with demonstrated administrative skills in an office environment. Its mission is to measure and assess environmental conditions in Washington State.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the duties of the\u00a0<strong>Lab Accreditation Administrative Specialist\u00a0<\/strong>position include:\n<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Facilitates the renewal application process for accreditation of environmental laboratories.<\/li>\n<li>Tracks each step of the accreditation renewal and billing process.<\/li>\n<li>Uploads electronic data from proficiency testing studies, and resolves formatting issues.<\/li>\n<li>Maintains, updates and generates queries from the accreditation database.<\/li>\n<li>Serves as initial point of contact for inquiries from the public, the regulated community, government agencies, and accredited laboratories.<\/li>\n<li>Delivers excellent customer service by:\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>Responding to customer concerns while maintaining effective relationships.<\/li>\n<li>Helping customers navigate the laboratory accreditation process.<\/li>\n<li>Assisting customers seeking technical assistance by helping them to access resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nThe Laboratory Accreditation Program is an important component of the effort to ensure the accuracy and defensibility of the analytical data used by WA State Department of Ecology. This is a unique position, providing initial point of contact to a wide variety of agency customers. It provides an opportunity to utilize administrative, technical and people skills. The position is office based in Manchester, WA.
