Facilitate Students for Salmon Programming – Estimated 60% of time<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Facilitate Students for Salmon Programming, including communicating with teachers and facilitating classroom and field programming.<\/li>\n
- Recruit, train, and supervise FLOW Interns and position them to facilitate Students for Salmon Program.<\/li>\n
- Table at outreach booths, assist in the production of outreach materials, conduct public presentations, update social media feeds, and assist with NSEA and community events.<\/li>\n
- Update and maintain NSEA\u2019s various databases, tracking volunteers and student engagement performance measures along with creating reports on all education programs and projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Support additional Education efforts – Estimated 10% of time<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Assist in the planning, promotion, and recruiting for NSEA\u2019s Camp Keystone summer camp program.<\/li>\n
- Work with NSEA staff to support teacher training workshops.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Organization and Program Support – Estimated 15% of time<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Provide support to other AmeriCorps team members, cross training in their respective programs.<\/li>\n
- Assist with facility needs.<\/li>\n
- Other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Professional Development and Career Training – Estimated 15% of time<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Attend professional development workshops, including Washington Service Corps trainings, along with other opportunities to gain skills in a variety of chosen topics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Time Requirements<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\nAmeriCorps IP positions are full-time, 10.5 month positions starting September 1, 2021 through July 15, average 40-45 hours per week, and will include weekend and evening events.<\/p>\n
Compensation:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Gain skills and knowledge in leadership, community engagement, environmental education and restoration, event planning, and advertising and outreach, salmon recovery, and nonprofits.<\/li>\n
- Opportunities to network with a close-knit environmental community.<\/li>\n
- 20% of service term is allotted for professional development and training.<\/li>\n
- Monthly stipend of $1,450, basic health insurance, workers compensation, childcare (if eligible) and student loan forbearance.<\/li>\n
- $6,195 education award for future education expenses or existing student loans (awarded at successful term completion).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Qualifications<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\nNSEA\u2019s AmeriCorps positions are competitive, and as an entry-level position, hiring personnel will be looking for the reasons why applicants want to serve in this role and how this position would benefit them as a stepping-stone towards their future career. At a minimum, applicants:<\/p>\n
\n- 18 years or older<\/li>\n
- Passionate for NSEA’s mission, community engagement and education, habitat restoration, stewardship, environmental science and education, and public speaking<\/li>\n
- Comfortable working for long periods in both an office setting (40%) and outside in all weather (60%).<\/li>\n
- Able to work independently and on a team.<\/li>\n
- Must meet AmeriCorps Individual Placement Program requirements:\n
\n- Must be at least 17 years old at the time you start serving.<\/li>\n
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident alien.<\/li>\n
- Cannot be (or required to be) listed on the National Sex Offender Registry or have been convicted of murder.<\/li>\n
- Must have a high school diploma or GED \u2013 or be on schedule to complete your education for either of them during your service term (note that some positions re-quire a college degree). Tutoring positions require a high school diploma or GED at the time of enrollment.<\/li>\n
