Seattle Department of Transportation’s<\/a>\u00a0(SDOT) Project Development Division delivers bicycle and community projects and is seeking a graduate\u00a0student to support the bicycle master plan implementation plan with data analysis and provide graphic support for outreach materials; bicycle project design packages; and maps. \u00a0We also need this position to help support the neighborhood street fund 2022-2024 project selection and design process with outreach material creation and distribution, data entry and analysis, and community engagement. The intern will assist with the urban trails and bikeways program on bike spot improvement project deliveries, and the annual trails checkup.<\/p>\nEducational Benefit to the Student<\/strong>
\nThe intern will learn skills in bicycle and pedestrian project planning including but not limited to data collection and analysis and outreach. The intern will be a key participant in project team meetings. \u00a0The intern will receive training regarding common city practices including the\u00a0race and social justice best practices. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to take advantage of the City’s training opportunities.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\nJob Responsibilities<\/dt>\n\n\nBicycle Master Plan Intern
\n35% \u00a0Project Development. This position will provide support in developing bicycle and community
\nprojects including working on the Complete Streets Checklist, map development and participating in
\nteam meetings<\/p>\n
25% \u00a0Field Work. This position will go out into the field to do observations of how people are using
\nour bicycle facilities, review road conditions. Additionally, they will support our annual trail spot
\ncheck to review trails for improvements<\/p>\n
25% \u00a0Outreach\/Materials Development – The position will support outreach for our projects including helping develop materials to advertise projects as well as to go out to community events to talk to the public about our work<\/p>\n
15% \u00a0 Data Collection and Analysis. Intern will conduct field observations to collect project related
\ndata like pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular movement as well as parking studies. The intern will also
\nenter and compile data in to graphs and reports\n<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n

Start\/End Dates<\/strong>: \u00a0July 2021 – June 2022<\/p>\nSchedule<\/strong>: \u00a0Intern will work 20 hours\/weeks while school is in session. \u00a040 hours\/week during school breaks. \u00a0Work hours can be scheduled between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. \u00a0May work weekends and evenings.
