This position works as a zoned employee of the Middle Fork Ranger District in Westfir, OR and the McKenzie River Ranger District in Mckenzie Bridge, OR. Duty station is in Westfir, OR.<\/p>\n
The incumbent will, performing a variety of technical tasks associated with stand improvement, reforestation, silvicultural examination, and occasional presale duties which include reconnaissance, sale layout, marking, and cruising.<\/p>\n

Provide course descriptions as necessary.<\/p>\n Basic Requirement:<\/strong><\/p>\n For the GS-7 level:<\/b>\u00a0Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service.\u00a0Qualifying<\/strong>\u00a0specialized experience includes meeting one or more of the following<\/strong>\u00a0:\u00a0<\/b>Performed surveys to determine reforestation, timber stand improvement and timber harvest needs; collected basic silvicultural data; assisted in preparation of the technical specifications for timber stand improvement, site preparation, tree planting, or silvicultural contracts; and performed layout or reconnaissance to locate timber sale area boundaries to develop logging plans and preliminary road location; For the GS-8 level:\u00a0<\/b>Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service.\u00a0Qualifying<\/strong>\u00a0specialized experience includes meeting one or more of the following<\/strong>:<\/b>\u00a0Assisted with field evaluations, providing information for site treatment needs, site preparation, regeneration, and stocking level control; served as Contracting Officer Representative on timber or silviculture contracts; maintaining\/updating the district silvicultural electronic folders, electronic activity database and associated GIS layer(s); and conducted vegetative examinations of designated areas to evaluate existing conditions; For the GS-9 level:\u00a0<\/b>Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service.\u00a0Qualifying<\/strong>\u00a0specialized experience includes meeting one or more of the following<\/strong>: Assisted with field evaluations, providing information for site treatment needs, site preparation, regeneration, and stocking level control; served as Contracting Officer Representative on timber or silviculture contracts; maintaining\/updating the district silvicultural electronic folders, electronic activity database and associated GIS layer(s); and conducted vegetative examinations of designated areas to evaluate existing conditions; Assisted in planning, preparation, coordination and administration of contracts for forest density management, release of target species, re-vegetation, animal damage control, release, site preparation, hazard fuel reduction, hazard fuel reduction or other resource disciplines; and\/or Conducted vegetative examinations of designated areas at the polygon level to evaluate existing conditions; Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. \nOne full year (18 semester\/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as Forestry or Forest Resources Management);

\nCombination of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.<\/p>\n

\nTwo full years (36 semester\/54 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level education or master’s degree if the coursework is directly related to the work of the position (such as: Forestry or Forest Resources Management);
