November 1st<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<p><strong>WDFW staff comprise a talented and passionate group of people dedicated to protecting Washington\u2019s Natural Resources.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Our employees serve the public with integrity<\/strong><strong>, we hold ourselves accountable\u00a0to both the quality of our work, and the way in which we perform it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>This is an opportunity\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>to provide assistance and support the statewide trust water monitoring program and associated stream flow augmentation efforts.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Picture yourself,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>assessing the biological and ecological benefits of instream flow restoration for anadromous (fish born in freshwater who spend most of their lives in saltwater) and resident salmonid populations<strong><em>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>With your experience,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>you will collect vital assessment information for pre-approval, review, and effectiveness of various stream flow enhancement projects and transactions.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The optimal candidate,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0takes pride in their work, is motivated, dependable, and hard working.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>We are seeking a team player,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>who respects and values the opinions of others, creating an inclusive team environment where every member feels they contribute value to the project and WDFW.<strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Duties<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>O<\/strong><strong>ur Scientific Technician 2,\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monitors stream flow and collects water chemistry data related to stream flow augmentation projects.<\/li>\n<li>Assists the Eastern Washington Water Team with monitoring trust water rights acquired within the state\u2019s sixteen critical basins, focusing mainly on Columbia River tributaries.<\/li>\n<li>Installs, monitors, and operates staff gages and pressure transducers.<\/li>\n<li>Assists Water Team staff with various instream flow studies.<\/li>\n<li>Enters data collected during the sampling periods into the Water Team\u2019s monitoring database.<\/li>\n<li>Provides assistance to the Water Team with other stream flow monitoring needs.<\/li>\n<li>Conducts field habitat measurements in streams throughout the state.<\/li>\n<li>Interprets, understands, and accurately follows work procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Carefully and accurately observes and records the condition and quality of salmonid habitats.<\/li>\n<li>Uses various fish sampling methods, to include but not limited to electrofishing, seine net, and snorkel surveys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Work Setting, including hazards:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>95% of the work performed is fieldwork, which includes working outside in inclement weather, exposure to insect bites\/stings and safely operating a motor vehicle on developed and undeveloped roads.<\/li>\n<li>Remoteness of work sites requires walking several miles daily on uneven terrain, frequently wading in rivers and streams potentially during high flows, carrying 40+ lbs. of equipment with frequent bending, stooping, and climbing over rocks\/slopes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Schedule:<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Typically, Monday \u2013 Friday &#8211; 8:00 a.m. \u2013 5:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Workload demands may require work outside the assigned work hours and adjustment of work schedules.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Requirements:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li>Travel occurs daily, in state vehicles in order to get to the job sites.<\/li>\n<li>Must be willing and able to travel overnight for extended periods of time &#8211;
