The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is looking for an individual to fill their North Forest Practice District Manager in the Pacific Cascade Region.<\/dd>\n<dt>Duties<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Forest Practice District Manager is responsible for leading a team of professional staff in implementing statewide forest practice rules and regulations. The District Manager is also responsible for insuring that all applicable collective bargaining agreements for the positions supervised, all other applicable laws, rules, regulations, agency policies, procedures, and guidelines are followed. This team resides within Pacific Cascade Region and encompass parts of Cowlitz, Lewis, Grays Harbor, and Pacific County\u2019s. The position fosters positive working relationships among Forest Practice staff, DNR State Lands staff, industry staff, tribes, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington Department of Ecology and others. This position works under the direction of the Wildfire and Forest Practices Assistant Region Manager and closely with the other Region forest practice District Managers and the Forest Practice Division Operational staff to ensure statewide consistency in program implementation.<\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Qualifications<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge in personnel management principles, merit system rules and employee bargaining agreements.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of agency policies, practices and procedures.<\/li>\n<li>Skills in oral and written communication.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in budget development and management.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in assessing training needs and implementation of training plans.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of forest and timber management and silvicultural principles.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Washington Forest Practice Application process.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of Washington SEPA process, Forest Practice rules, laws and associated agency policies.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of logging and forest road construction practices.<\/li>\n<li>Work under minimal supervision within the context of broad agency policies.<\/li>\n<li>Provide second level supervision over work units with one or more supervisors.<\/li>\n<li>Use a mix of tactical and strategic thinking to address various budget, fixed asset, human resource and customer service issues.<\/li>\n<li>Develop, recommend and implement agencies strategies, policies and resource allocation.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work on uneven terrain in all weather conditions.<\/li>\n<li>The incumbent in this position is required to travel.<\/li>\n<li>A valid driver\u2019s license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function.
