WDFW.<strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Duties<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>The Northern Pikeminnow Sport-Reward Fishery Program (NPSRF) has removed more than 5.2 million Northern Pikeminnow from the Columbia River System where they are the primary piscine predator of juvenile salmonids. \u00a0As a result of the NPSRF, predation on juvenile salmonids has been reduced by up to 40% from pre-program levels. \u00a0This position oversees two or more NPSRF registration stations under the general supervision of a Fish and Wildlife Biologist 2. \u00a0The Scientific Technician 2 provides quality control for Fishery field data collected by themselves and other technicians while working assigned locations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KEY DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Set up and staff mobile field registration stations as part of implementation of the Northern Pikeminnow Sport Reward Fishery Program.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tasks include:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fills out, completes, and files daily angler registration forms.<\/li>\n<li>Conducts angler exit creel surveys to determine northern pikeminnow eligibility and to record other angler catch.<\/li>\n<li>Completes and issues angler pay vouchers.<\/li>\n<li>Collects and records biological data from all northern pikeminnow and other fishes kept.<\/li>\n<li>Examines all northern pikeminnow for spaghetti or other external tags.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures that program rules and regulations are consistently applied to all participants.<\/li>\n<li>Proofs and is responsible for data accuracy, completeness and quality.<\/li>\n<li>Organizes field vehicle and\/or office, and stocks\/maintains appropriate supplies for field operations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Individually scans all eligible northern pikeminnow with PIT tag reader for recovery of PIT tags from consumed juvenile salmonids and select northern pikeminnow.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tasks include: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accurately records PIT tag data, proofs data logbook and reports all tag recoveries.<\/li>\n<li>Processes fish with PIT tags per program protocols and assists with fish dissection and tag recovery as directed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Informs the public and provides general information about participation in the Northern Pikeminnow Sport Reward Fishery.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tasks include: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explains and describes relevant angling regulations, fishing techniques, when, where and how to catch northern pikeminnow.<\/li>\n<li>Provides year to date harvest and effort totals by registration station as well as historical peak harvest information.<\/li>\n<li>Provides and\/or explains angler resources on these topics along with how and where to get useful information.<\/li>\n<li>Answers angler and\/or public questions and otherwise promotes the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsible for operating, cleaning and maintaining program equipment as needed at registration stations and at field offices.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tasks include:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain clean work area, clean work vehicle, walk-in cooler area.<\/li>\n<li>Clean all ice chests, freezers, biological sampling equipment, ice jugs, program vehicles, and other equipment.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for arranging for timely repair or replacement of program equipment as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other duties as assigned by supervising biologist.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Work setting including hazards:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Outdoors 85% of assistant to a biologist, chemist, or zoologist.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>OR<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Two (2) years of laboratory or field experience as an assistant to a
