State Parks\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is governed by a board of seven volunteer citizens appointed by the Governor. Commission members serve staggered six-year terms, setting public policy and guiding the agency. The Washington state park system includes more than 100 developed parks, recreation programs, trails, boating safety and winter recreation.<\/em><\/p>\n

This recruitment is for one full-time permanent seasonal\u00a0Grounds & Nursery Services Specialist 1<\/strong>\u00a0position at Wenatchee Confluence State Park located in Chelan County, Washington.<\/p>\n
This is an eight-month seasonal position. \u00a0The season dates are April 1st through November 30th, yearly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

- Duties<\/dt>\n

The Grounds & Nursery Services Specialist performs a variety of park’s ground maintenance including mowing turf, aerating and fertilizing lawns, pruning trees, repairing mowers and irrigation equipment all to keep the park manicured for the public’s enjoyment. A well-manicured park contributes to the agency’s vision of our parks being cherished destinations that all Washingtonians enjoy, appreciate and proud support.<\/p>\n
Duties include but are not limited to:<\/p>\n

- Grounds Maintenance\n
- \n
- Mowing and trimming<\/li>\n
- Aerates, seeds<\/li>\n
- Pruning and planting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- Assist with Park Aide training<\/li>\n
- Operates and maintains automatic irrigation system<\/li>\n
- Maintain and assist with repairs to electronic valves, broken lines, sprinkler heads, buildings, facilities, equipment<\/li>\n
- Programs all irrigation controllers and maintains water schedule<\/li>\n
- Perform winterization of domestic and irrigation systems<\/li>\n
- Maintains minor equipment and\u00a0vehicle maintenance<\/li>\n
- Mixing and applying herbicides<\/li>\n
- Answers visitor questions about facilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/dd>\n
- Qualifications<\/dt>\n

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n
- \n
- One (1) year of gardening or grounds keeping experience.<\/li>\n
- 18 years of age and older.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
AND<\/strong><\/p>\n
- \n
- A valid unrestricted driver’s license (other than corrective lenses).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/p>\n
- \n
- Experience operating and maintaining lawn mowing equipment and small grounds equipment such as blowers, string trimmers, and chainsaws.<\/li>\n
- Experience in loading and towing equipment.<\/li>\n
- Pesticide applicator’s license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
UNIFORM INFORMATION:<\/strong>
\nAll career seasonal Grounds & Nursery Service Specialists are required to wear a uniform. \u00a0A complete and properly worn uniform helps establish the professional identity of a Grounds & Nursery Service Specialist and promotes respect as a Washington State Parks’ employee. \u00a0This position will receive 4 shirts within the first year (2 shirts per calendar year after year 1), 1 jacket (per 5 calendar years), 1 baseball cap, a clothing stipend of $150.00 per calendar year, and a boot stipend of $150.00 per 2 calendar years. \u00a0Stipends are intended to offset the cost of clothing worn in the workplace such as pants, boots, rain gear, etc.<\/dd>\n- Supplemental Information<\/dt>\n
