Environment (OSE) develops and implements citywide environmental policies and programs that propel our city toward a sustainable, equitable, and carbon neutral future.<\/p>\n<p><u>The Job<\/u><\/p>\n<p>The Building and Energy Advisor develops plans, policies, and programs to achieve sustainable, energy-efficient, and carbon neutral buildings in Seattle\u2019s public and private sectors. \u00a0This work prioritizes racial equity and environmental justice and aligns with our work to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, you will develop and implement Greenhouse Gas reduction and energy efficiency approaches and policies for commercial and multifamily building sectors.<\/p>\n<p><u>To be successful, you are committed to:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Helping solve the problem of climate change in ways that are equitable and economically feasible<\/li>\n<li>Asking the right questions, listening, and involving BIPOC, immigrant, and refugee communities<\/li>\n<li>Doing research, thinking creatively, and finding new or refining current ideas to solve problems<\/li>\n<li>Using your understanding of building science and mechanical systems to reduce greenhouse gases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Job Responsibilities<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><u>To accomplish this work, you will:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate with OSE teammates and other City staff to ensure work alignment with current and planned policies and initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Build relationships and conduct outreach to building owners, tenants, community partners, and stakeholders to gather information and recommendations, identify strategies, and to provide information and support<\/li>\n<li>Research and develop new policy and program options<\/li>\n<li>Implement and manage new policies and programs<\/li>\n<li>Manage and analyze data from multiple sources to evaluate current work and find opportunities for better more equitable environmental and economic outcomes<\/li>\n<li>Develop communications and outreach materials<\/li>\n<li>Identify and pursue funding opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Draft legislation and shepherd it through the City\u2019s legislative process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Qualifications<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>A successful applicant will have a professional career that reflects a commitment to reducing greenhouse gases in equitable and economically feasible ways. \u00a0This career orientation should be complemented by demonstrated qualifications in some or most of the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Building energy efficiency and resource conservation<\/li>\n<li>Project management<\/li>\n<li>Policy or program analysis and development<\/li>\n<li>Data management and performance tracking<\/li>\n<li>Listening, communication, writing and presentation skills<\/li>\n<li>Community engagement with BIPOC communities, immigrants, and refugees<\/li>\n<li>Working constructively with energy professionals, building owners, tenants, and other stakeholders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Additional Information<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p>To be considered, complete the online application at www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/seattle fully and attach:<\/p>\n<p>\n\u2022 A PDF of your current resume<br \/>\n\u2022 A letter of interest which explains how you have worked to reduce greenhouse gases while increasing equity and environmental justice<\/p>\n<p>\nQuestions?
