The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is looking for a Fish and Wildlife Technician Senior in Adair Village, to provide safe transport of fish from fish hatcheries to lakes\/streams, as well as assist our district fisheries biologists with fish and land management activities. Maintain and repair fish liberation equipment such as trucks, tanks, refrigeration systems, pumps, release hoses. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities on fish liberation equipment. Advise program staff on fish liberation capabilities and assists in determining work schedules equipment allocation and time management. Maintain accurate vehicle and equipment maintenance records, plan for regular preventative maintenance, provides advice on vehicle and equipment requirements, assist in equipment design, obtain bids and complete procurement of equipment. Write procedures and train new employees in vehicle operation, records maintenance and proper vehicle selection for fish liberation.<\/p>\n \u2022 Assist with management of ODFW owned properties particularly lands with fishing access.\u00a0 Help keep properties in good repair.\u00a0 Be able to suggest and implement property improvements, and conduct maintenance, removal or repair on gates, fences, and other infrastructure.\u00a0<\/span> Must be able to identify land management issues and propose solutions.<\/p>\n \u2022 Provide information on fish and wildlife habitat requirements to agencies and private landowners. Investigate fill and removal, forest practices, water diversions, and fish passage problems. Investigate reports of pollution and assess natural resource impacts (e.g., fish kills). Direct implementation of volunteer habitat improvement projects.<\/p>\n \u2022 Collect biological information on the various aquatic resources occurring within the District. Determine species distribution and abundance using backpack and boat mounted electroshockers, nets, and traps. Conduct spawning ground surveys and redd counts, snorkel surveys, angler creel census, and habitat surveys. Summarize information and update District data base. Develop weekly recreational angling reports. Participate in public involvement meetings.<\/p>\n The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required.<\/p>\n \nWorking Conditions <\/b> \n\u2022 This position requires the possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL), tanker endorsement, and you must pass the air brake knowledge skill test. If the selected applicant does not possess a CDL, they are required to obtain this license within six months of hire and must retain it as a condition of continued employment in this position. The department will pay for up to $100 toward the cost of the CDL exam and renewal reimbursement. The cost of the physical exam would be covered if the employee is enrolled in PEBB for medical insurance. Pursuant to the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 and Federal Highway Administration regulations, candidates must successfully pass an alcohol\/controlled substance test before being hired into this position. Additionally, employees required to hold a CDL will be subject to random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up alcohol\/controlled substance testing as a condition of employment.<\/p>\n \u2022 This position requires a Boater Education Card obtained through the Oregon State Marine Board.
