The ability to successfully communicate and collaborate in-person and in writing with a broad range of stakeholders, other City bureaus, private community members, and businesses is essential.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>As an Operations Supervisor you will:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand and apply urban forest management and\u00a0<strong>arboricultural<\/strong>\u00a0practices and standards.<\/li>\n<li>Lead, oversee and assess the\u00a0<strong>successful performance of Operations staff.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Scope, prioritize, assign and ensure completion of\u00a0<strong>varied tree maintenance requests and projects.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Recruit, hire, schedule, assign work and supervise staff, including seasonal employees.<\/li>\n<li>Establish and maintain\u00a0<strong>professional work culture<\/strong>, including standards of safety and effectiveness.<\/li>\n<li>Create standard practices, policies and procedures for day-to-day operations of the unit.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise daily implementation of\u00a0<strong>ANSI Safety Standards for Arboricultural Operations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee a large specialized vehicle and equipment fleet and maintain inventory of operating supplies.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise and ensure delivery of the\u00a0<strong>24\/7 citywide tree emergency response program<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Deal effectively and communicate with the general public and other public agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Be skilled in promoting\u00a0<strong>workplace diversity<\/strong>\u00a0and creating a\u00a0<strong>positive work environment<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Track and update tree condition and work status employing various computer software.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Work closely with the Operations Manager, City Forester, City property maintenance supervisors and other public agencies to provide all facets of tree maintenance support.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><u><strong>About the Bureau:<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<div>Portland Parks &amp; Recreation (PP&amp;R) is committed to the overall Citywide vision that race will have no detrimental effect on people of color, refugee and immigrant communities in accessing our parks and natural areas, or from the benefit of our services.
