The purpose is to provide compassionate leadership and guidance as we progress through a strategic staffing transition, readying staff for leadership roles. It\u2019s an opportunity to have a meaningful impact working with a local nonprofit organization that specializes in environmental awareness and justice, and outreach and education to local communities. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who has worked in Seattle\u2019s environmental consulting sector and values the role and contributions of community-based organizations. ECOSS is seeking an individual with a passion for mentoring and helping advance the careers of others. This is a newly developed position with room for input and flexibility to maximize the effectiveness of this interim period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities and Scope:<\/strong> The Interim Program Director will report to the Executive Director. They will work closely and communicate frequently with the Senior Management Team. They will serve as the senior lead, advisor and trainer for 8-10 project staff. There is wide latitude to exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems. This is an opportunity to demonstrate leadership and influence the organization\u2019s structure, skills and programs, leading to a significant and positive impact. Because the position is currently established as a temporary role, the IPD will not personally manage projects.<\/p>\n<p>ECOSS delivers programs that address environmental equity and social justice, solid waste management, pollution prevention, green infrastructure, transportation, clean energy, clean water, clean air, and environmental access for all. As such, the IPD will provide technical, managerial, and administrative oversight to a wide range of environmentally focused programs and to the diverse staff that serve these programs. Please see our website at www.ECOSS.org for more information on the many programs that we offer to the community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential Duties <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Assess and make recommendations on current systems, practices, skills and abilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Help shape, define and recruit for a full-time successor.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Provide senior project oversight and expert technical input on current projects, work plans and budgets.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Conduct regular project team meetings to review current and future projects, discuss project and\/or employee issues, and staff workloads.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Hire, manage, train and motivate project staff.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Boost project staff knowledge, skills &amp; abilities with targeted group and individual training and mentoring.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Create, model and promote effective meetings and communications.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Evaluate and\/or establish metrics, tracking and reporting protocols.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Help staff identify and pursue opportunities for public and private funding\/contracts<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Lead the development of strategies and designs for meeting client objectives, carrying out projects, data analysis and reporting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 8 to 10+ years of professional Project Management and supervisory experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Strong background in providing environmental consulting services to public and private clients.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Excellent communicator who easily connects with people (remote conferencing, verbal and writing).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Self-starter, team-oriented and collaborative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Have a vision for managing a distributed workforce.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Build strong teams through demonstrated professionalism, open communication and collaborative decision-making.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Financial acumen with experience understanding and preparing project budgets, monthly financial forecasts, and invoicing.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Organizational change-management skills.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proficiency with MS Office suite.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proficiency with ArcGIS.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Proficiency with Salesforce.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences are a plus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About ECOSS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ECOSS is a diverse nonprofit organization with over 26 years\u2019 experience that delivers environmental results for local people at home, at work and in their communities.
