Some of what you’ll be doing:<\/div>\n
This position meets the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers criteria for Washington State. During the \u201cStay Home, Stay Healthy\u201d order, most, if not all, of this work will be performed remotely. Social distancing and personal protective equipment guidelines will be followed when required to work onsite.<\/p>\n
This position will support work of two sections of the Maritime Environment & Sustainability Department: Remediation and Stormwater Utility. These programs address historic contamination on Port of Seattle properties through remediation and mitigation, and stormwater permit compliance and infrastructure maintenance and improvement.<\/p>\n
Some of your essential duties include:<\/p>\n
\n- Environment & Sustainability website information updating\/organizing focused on remediation and stormwater programs.<\/li>\n
- Remediation: \u00a0groundwater monitoring well tracking and support of proper well abandonment reporting for groundwater monitoring wells.<\/li>\n
- Stormwater: compile and update education\/outreach materials (includes graphics review, editing for consistency).<\/li>\n
- Skills: website, SharePoint, GIS mapping (basic), data management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

Who you are:<\/div>\n
\n- A student\u00a0– You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a degree program such as geology, water management, environmental science.<\/li>\n
- Environmental interest –\u00a0You have knowledge of current environmental issues, principles, techniques and terminology related to port operations, stormwater management and environmental geology.<\/li>\n
- Organized and proactive\u00a0–\u00a0You have excellent organizational skills. You\u2019re able to read or quickly learn regulations addressing monitoring well installation and abandonment, and storm drain systems.<\/li>\n
- Use of technology –\u00a0You have knowledge on Microsoft Office products, communication strategies and approaches, including website development, social media, and other online communication tools.<\/li>\n
- A communicator –\u00a0You have good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in order to communicate in writing and in-person with varying Port employees. You have the ability to create compelling, informative and visually appealing outreach material, including newsletters, flyers, infographics, presentations, and web content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
What else you need to know<\/span>:<\/span><\/p>\n\n- Work Schedule\u00a0\u2013 This is a summer intern position expected to last for roughly three (3) months during the summer of 2021. Normal work hours will typically be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.<\/li>\n
- Work Environment\u00a0\u2013 This role will have a mix of in-person and remote work in accordance with the Port\u2019s Flexible Work Arrangement policies during the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/li>\n
- Limited Duration\u00a0\u2013 This is a limited duration internship and is expected to last no longer than five months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
