Over the years we have worked very hard to keep Seattle&#8217;s electricity affordable, reliable, and environmentally sound. Today, City Light is a recognized national leader in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.<\/p>\n<p>The Race and Social Justice Initiative (RSJI) is the City of Seattle\u2019s long-term commitment to end institutional and structural racism and achieve racial equity in Seattle. The RSJ Service Equity Program Manager serves as an organizational lead for Seattle City Light\u2019s service equity efforts and establishes and ensures the integrity and progress of the initiative within City Light.<\/p>\n<p>This position will report to the Talent and Workforce Development Director in People &amp; Culture.<\/p>\n<p>Job Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will be a part of the team responsible for implementation of Seattle City Light\u2019s Race and Social Justice Program (RSJ). They will develop a comprehensive program that assures city-wide RSJ principles are incorporated into all aspects of the customer experience. The successful candidate will leverage processes, tools and guidelines to carry out their responsibilities as well as introduce changes to our current policies, programs, practices, and measurement systems to drive diversity and inclusion with our customers.<\/p>\n<p>The Race &amp; Social Justice Service Equity Program Manager\u2019s job responsibilities will include the following:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Set the strategic direction and implementation of Seattle City Light\u2019s service equity RSJ program;<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with executive leadership to create and implement RSJ strategies, programs and events;<\/li>\n<li>Serve a resource for the City Light\u2019s RSJ Change Team<\/li>\n<li>Provide technical assistance and policy direction for Utility\u2019s RSJ program;<\/li>\n<li>Review, evaluate and make RSJ recommendations related to Utility\u2019s work practices, programs, policies and procedures;<\/li>\n<li>Draft, monitor, track and update business cases, workplans and project schedules as needed;<\/li>\n<li>Develop metrics, filters and reporting structures for the Utility\u2019s lines of business related to RSJ;<\/li>\n<li>Supervise staff and external consulting teams that perform facilitation, training and other RSJ services on behalf of the Utility;<\/li>\n<li>Making policy recommendations on resource needs and allocation to ensure success;<\/li>\n<li>Design and implement RSJ training and learning opportunities for City Light employees and People Leaders;<\/li>\n<li>Manage Utility RSJ Website and internal communications related to the RSJ program;<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a RSJ liaison with Seattle Office for Civil Rights;<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate and facilitate interdepartmental and cross-departmental team working groups;<\/li>\n<li>Participate on City-wide RSJ projects and teams;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These responsibilities are only a summary of typical functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all possible job responsibilities, tasks, and duties. May perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Education:\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>7 or more years of experience developing and implementing programs that address institutional racism, structural racism, racial equity, diversity and inclusion and\/or social justice. This may include program design and implementation; delivering equity training; developing and implementing equity tools; applying an equity lens to programs and outreach strategies; managing an equity program or projects; or other relevant experience.<br \/>\n<b><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/b><br \/>\n<b><strong>Experience:\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>A Bachelor&#8217;s Degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, social services, American studies, or related fields (or a combination of equivalent education and\/or experience).<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>Desired Qualifications:\u00a0<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>10 or more years in a leadership role with significant people or program management skills.<\/li>\n<li>Experience implementing equity and inclusion programs and change initiatives within a complex and organization.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to see situations from several different lenses and angles in order to inform conclusions, demonstrating strong judgment while taking into account varied perspectives.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to build strong relationships across a variety of stakeholders, influence others, and manage laterally to outcomes.<\/li>\n<li>Skills discussing and addressing issues regarding race, class and privilege<\/li>\n<li>Experience developing and\/or delivering diversity and inclusion training<\/li>\n<li>Experience working in diverse teams<\/li>\n<li>Completion of multiple diversity, inclusion, race and privilege related training classes or programs.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in meeting facilitation or group and individual mediation<\/li>\n<li>Extensive project management experience<\/li>\n<li>Excellent cross-cultural oral and written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Experience planning and implementing events, trainings, and large-scale projects<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational skills, including the ability to produce multiple deliverables with overlapping deadlines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nAdditional Information<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the application, please include your resume and cover letter which describe your interest and how your knowledge, skills, and abilities prepare you for the job responsibilities and qualifications outlined.<b><strong>\u00a0Incomplete applications will not be considered.<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Job offers are contingent on the verification of credentials and other information required by the employment process including the completion of a background check which includes criminal history and driving history review.<\/p>\n<p>Want to know more about Seattle City Light?
