September 15th, 2021<\/em><\/div>\n<p><strong>The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) currently operates 87 hatchery facilities, the majority dedicated to producing salmon and\/or steelhead. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hatcheries have operated in Washington State for more than a century, beginning with a facility on the Kalama River in 1895. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>With that in mind,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Picture yourself<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0rearing anadromous (fish born in freshwater who spend most of their lives in saltwater) and inland species of fish.<strong><em>\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>These are opportunities\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>to perform a variety of technical and scientific fish culture duties and hatchery related maintenance.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The optimal candidates\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>take pride in their work, use sound judgment, and can work collaboratively.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>We are seeking candidates<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with demonstrated skills representing WDFW values of professionalism, accountability, empathy, integrity, and respect.<\/p>\n<p>Duties<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Fish Hatchery Specialist 2,\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Feeds fish their calculated daily rations.<\/li>\n<li>Monitors fish behavior, fish health, eggs and fish production.<\/li>\n<li>Administers therapeutants, calculates and administers drugs as prescribed.<\/li>\n<li>Cleans ponds and raceways, troughs, and incubator systems to maintain fish health.<\/li>\n<li>Collects fish tissue and fluid samples and records data.<\/li>\n<li>Performs fish inventories, splits, grading, marking trailer inventories, weight samples and plants.<\/li>\n<li>Accurately enters data into forms and spreadsheets (fish mortality, feed sheets, feed inventory, chemical usage).<\/li>\n<li>Monitors water flow and quality parameters &#8211;
