The women and men of the Wilderness Veterans Trail Crew \u201cWild Vets\u201d will work to improve public access and safety on the wilderness trails system, as well as complete in-stream restoration and habitat conservation benefitting native fish and wildlife. The Crew Leader position offers veterans with a valid DD214 a path to reenter civilian life while gaining transferable experience supporting \u00a0careers in natural resources.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cWild Vets\u201d crew leader will be responsible for leading a team of three fellow military veterans in remote field settings through 10-hour, four-day week hitches. The crew leader will be responsible for setting the pace in the field, ensuring safe work conditions, maintaining a standard of excellence and accountability amongst the crew, and promoting stewardship throughout the course of the term of employment. Successful applicants will demonstrate resourcefulness, effective communications skills, mentorship, professionalism, organization, and a willingness to help support and encourage their fellow veterans to grow, heal, and act as stewards for the land. This position is ultimate responsible for the success of the crew.
