This position can work up to 40 hours per week and is overtime eligible. Work weeks vary depending on work assignment and location; shifts may include weekends and evening work. King County Parks has developed a safety plan for Park Operations employees to use during this outbreak. Additionally, when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingcounty.gov\/depts\/health\/news\/2020\/May\/11-covid.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><u>Public Health Directive<\/u><\/a><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span lang=\"EN\">\u00a0from the Seattle &amp; King County Public Health Officer.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Job Duties<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide for the welfare and safety of park visitors by providing\u00a0assistance and information to patrons, including park rules and regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain parks grounds and trails, by trimming, mowing, clearing, and removing litter and debris.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain and prepare athletic fields, arenas, play areas, picnic shelters, restrooms and other park facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Safely operate and maintain equipment and vehicles such as weed eaters, power blowers, push mowers, and trucks, mowers, small utility vehicles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver&#8217;s license.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to perform heavy physical labor with weights up to 75 pounds.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work on uneven slopes, surfaces, grades and terrain in inclement weather and other adverse conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work with and provide exceptional customer service to the public and volunteer groups.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to follow instructions, and be able to work independently and as a member of a team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Skills and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basic skill in operating small manual and power hand tools and operate equipment on a continuous basis.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with landscaping, gardening, athletic field maintenance, or other park maintenance experience highly desired!
