verify accuracy of data collected in the field and compile results.<\/li>\n<li>Provide basic input to interdisciplinary reports for timber sale marking and postharvest reviews, and evaluate project effects to wildlife as well as identify problems and recommend solutions to the lead biologist and supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"travelrequired\">\n<h3>Travel Required<\/h3>\n<p>Occasional travel &#8211; (see OPM Qualifications Standard-General Policies E (4)(f)) &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.opm.gov\/qualifications\/policy\/ApplicationOfStds-04.asp\">http:\/\/www.opm.gov\/qualifications\/policy\/ApplicationOfStds-04.asp<\/a>);\u00a0<strong>-OR-<\/strong>\u00a0have a combination of education and specialized experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specialized Experience Requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements &#8211; please be sure to include this information in your resume. Examples of specialized experience include: assist in preparing, evaluating, and conducting biological analyses of wildlife ecology and biology in relationship to land and water resource projects; assist in the design and implementation of habitat improvement and restoration projects; or identifying impacts to wildlife habitat and threatened and endangered species.<\/p>\n<p>Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.<\/p>\n<p>You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands:\u00a0<\/strong>The work is sedentary but may occasionally require some physical exertion such as walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces and exposure to extreme temperatures. The field duties of this position require that the employee operate four-wheel drive vehicles on and off roads in isolated areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Work Environment:<\/strong>\u00a0Work is performed in the office and field locations under a variety of topographic and climatic conditions.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>Education<\/h3>\n<p>This position has a positive education requirement which requires that you have a degree in biological sciences or related disciplines appropriate to the position, or a combination of education and experience&#8212;courses equivalent to a major, as shown below, plus appropriate experience or additional education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Degree:<\/strong>\u00a0biological science that included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; AND<\/li>\n<li>At least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects; AND<\/li>\n<li>At least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>-OR-<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Combination of education and experience:<\/strong>\u00a0equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or related plant science, as stated above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.<\/p>\n<p>If using education to qualify, you must submit copies of all transcripts or a list of college courses that include hours and grades from an accredited U.S. college\/university.
