The Water Quality Division has a critical role in achieving the Department\u2019s mission by developing policy, implementation tools, and implementation priorities for improving and protecting the quality of water in Oregon\u2019s waterways. The Water Quality Division works cooperatively with the Department\u2019s three regional offices and the Laboratory to deliver programs and services that protect and enhance the quality of the waters of the state to protect public health and the environment. You will develop TMDLs and other water quality assessments. You will solve complex clean water plan (TMDLs) development problems using knowledge of water quality modeling, statistics, and hydrology. You will act for and represent the Agency in forums\/groups, such as the Environmental Quality Commission (EQC) meetings, technical and stakeholder committees, and city councils. If you are passionate about Oregon&#8217;s environment, apply today!\n<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\"><i>This is a full-time, AFSCME represented position.<\/i><\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\"><i>This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.<\/i><\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\"><span class=\"emphasis-3\"><b>What are we looking for?<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor\u2019s degree in a physical science, environmental science, or closely related field, AND 4 years of experience in a natural resource or environmental field (<i>an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable).<\/i> At least 1 year of experience at a technical or professional level performing activities in a natural resource program such as researching and analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">Candidates who are most competitive will also reflect the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience with TMDL development.<\/li>\n<li>Experience evaluating water quality data using statistical and other analytical methods to determine impacts on water quality, evaluate strategies to improve water quality, and make recommendations based on findings.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with water quality and watershed modeling.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience representing an agency or organization at public hearings and meetings; skill in writing concise and clear reports describing complex industries and regulatory determinations.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, and communicate effectively with staff, many sectors of the public, and other natural resource agencies, including communicating technical information; professional level writing and presentation acumen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"LTR\"><span class=\"emphasis-3\"><b>Working Conditions: <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">Work is primarily in an office setting.
