The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Washington Geological Survey is seeking a Landslide Geologist to join a talented team mapping landslides and assessing landslide hazards across Washington State.<\/dd>\n<dt>Duties<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interpret lidar derivatives and orthoimagery in a GIS to map landslides<\/li>\n<li>Manage and populate spatial geodatabases<\/li>\n<li>Perform field validation of landslides and fans<\/li>\n<li>Review work of program staff for professional standards<\/li>\n<li>Assess geologic hazard and risk<\/li>\n<li>Participate in public outreach about landslide hazards, safety, and preparedness<\/li>\n<li>As needed, provide landslide emergency response for regional or large landslides and for post-fire debris flow assessments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Qualifications<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Bachelor&#8217;s degree in an earth science field and five years of professional experience in geology assessing and identifying landslide hazards from remote sensing and field assessments.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in collecting, compiling, managing, and digitizing geospatial and tabular data in the interpretation of lidar and aerial imagery.<\/li>\n<li>Outstanding proficiency in ArcGIS, demonstrated by experience and coursework.<\/li>\n<li>Geology license or sufficient experience and education to acquire a Washington geologist license within 6 months of hire and a Washington State Engineering Geologist License, obtained within three years of hire.<\/li>\n<li>A valid driver\u2019s license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function.
