PaintCare Program Coordinator for Washington<\/strong><\/p>\n Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n PaintCare seeks two qualified candidates for Program Coordinators to implement the Washington PaintCare program. Responsibilities will include developing partnerships with program stakeholders and identifying, recruiting, and training paint drop-off locations. There will be two regional positions to coordinate program activities statewide.<\/p>\n About PaintCare<\/strong><\/p>\n PaintCare, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 2009 by the American Coatings Association (ACA) to implement state-mandated paint stewardship programs on behalf of paint manufacturers in each state that adopts a paint stewardship law. PaintCare programs are funded by a fee on new paint sales. Funding is used to set up drop-off sites where the public can take leftover paint for recycling, pay for the recycling of this paint, conduct public education, and provide program administration. PaintCare currently runs programs in nine states and the District of Columbia and is planning new programs for Washington and New York. The Washington program is scheduled to launch in April 2021. Please visit\u00a0www.paintcare.org<\/a>\u00a0for more information.<\/p>\n Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Partnerships: Establish successful relationships with program partners including paint retailers, household hazardous waste (HHW) programs, solid waste management programs, paint transporters and recyclers, organizations representing painting contractors, Washington State Department of Ecology, and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n \u2022 Paint drop-off sites: Identify, recruit, and train paint drop-off sites including paint retailers, HHW facilities, and transfer stations. Evaluate their suitability for being a drop-off site, explain how the process works, train site staff on program operations.<\/p>\n \u2022 Paint collection events: Organize all aspects of paint collection events including identifying locations and contacts, working with event operators and paint transporters, managing traffic control and public relations on the event day, summarizing results.<\/p>\n \u2022 Large-volume pick-up (LVP) service: Screen customers for eligibility to use the LVP service, explain how the service works, pass customer (painting contractors, property managers, and other generators of large volumes of leftover paint) to transporter to arrange for pick-up.<\/p>\n \u2022 Maintain detailed and organized database of drop-off site information.<\/p>\n \u2022 Review and approve invoices.<\/p>\n \u2022 Assist with public outreach including distribution of public information materials to all paint retailers and others upon request (including those that are not drop-off sites), and monitor use and usability of materials.<\/p>\n \u2022 Make presentations to small and large groups of stakeholders (e.g., recycling conferences, painting contractors, HHW stakeholders).<\/p>\n Preferred Skills and Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2022 Knowledge of hazardous waste management, public sector waste and recycling initiatives and\/or retail operations in the home improvement sector.<\/p>\n \u2022 Familiarity with paint products and users of paint including paint retailers, painting contractors, and property managers.<\/p>\n \u2022 Knowledge of retail infrastructure and operations, including big box, chain, and independent stores.<\/p>\n \u2022 Experience with public speaking, training and\/or making presentations.<\/p>\n \u2022 Strong writing skills.<\/p>\n \u2022 Knowledge of product stewardship programs, laws, and organizations.<\/p>\n \u2022 Proficiency in full Microsoft Office suite and FileMaker or similar database applications.<\/p>\n \u2022 Ability to work independently from home.<\/p>\n \u2022 Willingness to travel extensively within the state, particularly at the start of the program to recruit and train drop-off sites and to meet with stakeholders. Occasional travel to Washington D.C. and other locations in the U.S. for trainings, conferences, or meetings (out of state travel is currently paused due to COVID-19).<\/p>\n \u2022 Valid state driver\u2019s license required.<\/p>\n Location and Travel<\/strong><\/p>\n The positions are located in Washington. Employees will work from home. The ideal candidates will be in close proximity to either Seattle, Spokane, or Portland\/Vancouver, WA. Extensive travel throughout the state, up to 50% of time, will be required to visit drop-off sites and meet with local stakeholders. Overnight stays (2-3 nights) up to 1-2 times per month. Out of state travel for staff meetings and trainings will also take place, 2-3 times per year for 3-4 days.
