Take your passion for working in the outdoors by leading others and\/or caring for fish and performing grounds and equipment maintenance at Bonneville Hatchery.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\"><b><u>What you will do:<\/u><\/b><br \/>\n\u2022 Assist hatchery manager in setting work goals and priorities in order to meet production objectives. Train and lead hatchery employees and volunteers in the safe use of equipment, procedures and work practices. Organize work and assign jobs in order to meet production goals. Monitor progress of work being accomplished by hatchery employees and volunteers in order to report to the hatchery manager on the status of projects.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\n\u2022 Participate in fish rearing. Set and monitor water flows. Monitor fish growth, development, feedings and water flows and keep accurate records. Move and handle fish in rearing containers as needed to inventory, grade, mark, load, transfer or release.\u00a0Trap and spawn adults; set up trap, sanitize and ready spawning area and equipment, operate trap, crowder, seines and have needed materials on hand. Determine species, stock, sex, maturity, ripeness and health. Observe for marks and tags and record information. Set up and sanitize incubation area and equipment. Receive and prepare eggs. Set up and maintain water flows to eye up eggs. Monitor eggs for health and development; treat eggs. Ready eyed eggs, determine when to pick, clean up, treat, inventory and tray down eggs.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\u2022 Monitor and operate hatchery water systems. Respond to emergencies and correct flow problems. Clean intakes, protect from freezing, check and service valves and pumps as needed.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\u2022\u00a0Maintain, construct, and perform minor repairs to ponds and walkways, fish feeders, egg trays, and screens. Maintain and repair hatchery buildings and residences, fish pumps, lawn mowers, power tools, roads, and trails.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\u2022\u00a0Meet the public, maintain public relations, answer questions, and conduct hatchery tours.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Work with paint, vehicle fuel, lubricants and solvents during routine maintenance duties. Required to climb ladders.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\u2022 Must display a good sense of diplomacy when dealing with the public.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\u2022 Requires a flexible work schedule that varies in the number of hours worked on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, or a work schedule in which the starting and stopping times vary on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day. This includes working at all hours and workdays in excess of eight hours.
