However, we encourage candidates to apply for the Fish &amp; Wildlife Technician Entry level ($2,638\/mo.), as the department may consider under-filling the positions.<\/p>\n<p>There <span class=\"WKS2\">are\u00a0two\u00a0full<\/span> time, seasonal positions located in Gold Beach from April 26, 2021 through September 16, 2021<i> (Note: These are estimated dates. Length of season may be shortened or extended depending on project needs, funding, or factors beyond the project&#8217;s control).<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">Help keep Oregon safe from aquatic invasive species! Inspect watercrafts at key locations located around the state.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\"><b><u>What you will do:<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\u2022 Inspect watercrafts entering Oregon at designated locations throughout the state for quagga and zebra mussels and other aquatic invasive species. Follow established protocols for inspection and decontamination of affected watercrafts.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Participate in outreach and education efforts to inform the general public about the impacts of aquatic invasive species on Oregon&#8217;s fish and wildlife and their habitats. Disseminate information about aquatic invasive species and proper ways to clean or decontaminate watercraft at various public venues.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Submit weekly summaries of watercraft inspections to the Invasive Species, Wildlife Integrity Supervisor. Record inspection data onto paper forms or tablet. Enter inspection forms into an online database.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Occasionally coordinate with Oregon State Police, Oregon State Marine Board, county law enforcement, and other department staff to isolate any watercraft contaminated with quagga or zebra mussels or other aquatic invasive species.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties required.<\/p>\n<p><b>Working Conditions <\/b><br \/>\n\u2022 Requires working in inclement weather.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Requires great attention to detail when inspecting and decontaminating watercraft.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Requires use of a computer.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 This position requires working weekends and holidays.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Must be persuasive and diplomatic when dealing with the general public and sometimes upset individuals.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Requires a flexible work schedule that varies in the number of hours worked on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day, or a work schedule in which the starting and stopping times vary on a daily basis, but not necessarily each day. This includes working at all hours and workdays in excess of eight hours.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\"><b>Criminal Records\/DMV Check<\/b><br \/>\nApplicants\u00a0are subject to both a\u00a0criminal history and motor vehicles check. <b>Out-of-state finalists will be required to present a current <u>certified<\/u> driving record for review to be considered for the position. Be prepared to obtain as soon as possible. You are expected to provide the out-of-state certified driving record before an offer can be made unless extenuating circumstances exist. <\/b>Adverse background information may disqualify you from further consideration.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\n<b>NOTE:<\/b> Within three days of hire, applicants will be required to complete the U.S. Department Homeland Security&#8217;s I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. ODFW is not able to support VISA sponsorships.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\"><b><u>We are seeking applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and have the following skills and experience: <\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\">\n<b>Minimum Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"LTR\"><b><u>Fish &amp; Wildlife Technician Option:<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 An Associate&#8217;s degree in Fisheries Technology, Aquaculture, Aquarium Science, Wildlife Technology or Agriculture; <b>OR<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Eighteen months of experience in fisheries, fish culture, fish screens, care of livestock, agricultural research and experimentation, monitoring game or wildlife, or farming.<\/p>\n<p>A higher level degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science, or a closely-related degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of <span class=\"WKS2\">biological\/ecological<\/span> coursework will substitute for the Associate&#8217;s degree.<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Fish &amp; Wildlife Technician Entry Option &#8211; Underfill:<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Minimum qualifications are not established for this classification, there are no minimum qualifications.
