We are looking for an energetic and knowledgeable plant expert to support our unique nursery. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has good communication skills, isn\u2019t afraid to ask questions, and enjoys working with a small team. Our sales approach is through education. If you are a plant person and love working retail, we encourage you to apply.<\/p>\n<p>Cloud Mountain Farm Center is a non-profit farm and education center, dedicated to providing hands-on learning opportunities to new and experienced farmers as well as home gardeners.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Working Conditions <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This position works routinely outdoors in all weather, as the nursery &amp; backstock areas are outdoors in uncovered areas. There are indoor bathrooms and breakroom spaces available, cubbies for personal belongings, refrigerator\/microwave etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Working Hours <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>5 days a week, about 8 hours a day, including one weekend day. Minimum of 32 hours per week. Full time hours (up to 40 per week) seasonally.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required Skills &amp; Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Knowledge of at least some groups of ornamental, native and fruit plants, ability to answer basic gardening queries<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Experience operating a cash register and POS (point-of-sale)<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Familiarity and ability to use Microsoft Suite Programs \uf0b7 Ability to lift 25 lbs. repeatedly<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Ability to work outdoors in all weather<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Skills &amp; Qualifications: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Landscaping, light equipment, construction, or tractor experience preferred but not required<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Orchard experience<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Primary Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sales:<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Engaging with the public as a sales staff and as an educator<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Collaborating with the nursery team to design attractive &amp; functional nursery areas<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Building plant displays<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Ringing up customers using the point-of-sales (POS) system.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Inventory organization &amp; management: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Stocking plants<\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Maintaining inventory organization in retail and backstock areas<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nursery growing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\uf0b7 Weeding, potting, pruning, staking, irrigation and fertilization of both container production and field stock.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compensation:<\/strong> This is a part-time (32 hrs minimum, with possibility for full-time up to 40hrs a week seasonally), nonexempt position, introductory position, to be compensated $14-$16 hourly depending on qualifications and experience. First year, regular full-time employees (working 40hrs\/week) accrue 16 days per year of paid time off, and an individual benefit of $350 per month. Part-time employees receive benefits on a pro-rated basis.
