The system is comprised of many different park facilities that offer residents a variety of recreational opportunities. From waterfront access to local neighborhood parks to large regional facilities and attractions, the MPT system is both a local community asset and regional destination.<\/p>\n<p>OUR CORE VALUES<br \/>\nThese eight core values will guide future decisions, business and operations, and the manner in which MPT treats staff, customers and the community:<br \/>\n\u2022Innovation\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2022Excellence\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2022Equity\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2022Inclusiveness\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2022Sustainability\u00a0\u00a0 \u2022Accountability\u00a0 \u2022Safety\u00a0 \u2022Fun<\/p>\n<p>POSITION INFORMATION<br \/>\nUnder the direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation, which includes regional, community and neighborhood parks and fields natural areas, sports complexes, Seymour Botanical Conservatory, Point Defiance Park, Meadow Park Golf Course, the Point Defiance Boat House and Marina, Fort Nisqually Living History Museum, the Tacoma Nature Center and six Community Centers.\u00a0 The Business &amp; Administrative Services Manager provides oversight of a variety of specialized customer service, business, analytical and technical support services for the department.\u00a0 Provide on-going assistance to the Director, Deputy Directors and managers in strategic and operational planning, organizing and coordinating all programs, functions and activities.<\/p>\n<p>The Business and Administrative Service Manager is the lead liaison to the district\u2019s central business operations division and is the primary interface for the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Technology &amp; Business Analytics<\/li>\n<li>Visitor Services &amp; Admissions\/Registration Support<\/li>\n<li>Budget &amp; Finance<\/li>\n<li>HR\/Volunteers &amp; Administrative Services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nIn the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers.<\/li>\n<li>Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.<\/li>\n<li>Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Observe applicable safety requirements, use safety equipment provided, implement appropriate safety practices at all times and report immediately any unsafe working conditions or hazards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Essential Duties<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<p><u>Distinguishing characteristics:<\/u><br \/>\nThe primary responsibility of the Business &amp; Administrative Services Manager is to take a leadership role in nurturing sustainable workplace practices and methods that ensure the continued success and growth of the department and organization, and achievement of the MPT\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n<p>This goal will be achieved by ensuring that they, and employees for whom they are responsible, perform their respective tasks and duties in a manner that meets the following standards:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers.<\/li>\n<li>Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.<\/li>\n<li>Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Approach duties in a collaborative manner always focusing on delivering highest levels of customer satisfaction, both internally and externally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Essential Duties<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist the Director by providing leadership on a departmental wide basis to ensure that public services are provided in alignment with District strategic objectives.<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the department liaison with district strategic planning, finance, human resources, and other district-wide business support divisions within central operations.<\/li>\n<li>As designated, acts in the director&#8217;s absence by attending meetings, making decisions, and providing departmental leadership.<\/li>\n<li>Plan, organize and direct the Parks and Recreation Information Technology functions, including needs assessment, equipment acquisition and replacement, software selection, problem solving, user support and programming as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Direct the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records and files related to the Parks and Recreation Business Services functions, including budget preparation, monthly budget updates, and attendance. Coordinate business plan updates both internally and through consulting services if required.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and prepare the annual preliminary budget for areas of responsibility; analyze and review budgetary and financial data; analyze budget records and operating costs; forecast expenditures, recommend capital expenditures and revise budgets according to established procedures; assist in monitoring revenues and expenses in compliance with the current Park Board approved budget.<\/li>\n<li>Plan, organize and direct the parks and recreation customer\/visitors services related to registration, admissions, membership, group sales and revenue share programs.<\/li>\n<li>Manage revenue share and facility lease agreements<\/li>\n<li>Manage contracts for food &amp; beverage, retail services and revenue share programs as needed.<\/li>\n<li>Plan, organize and direct customer-facing processes; assure best practices and outcomes from the utilization of Business Analytics software, Registration and Point of Sale systems. \u00a0Leverage information from data analytics to increase revenues and customer loyalty; direct the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports extracting trends from data and empirical knowledge, and developing the most efficient plans for business operations.<\/li>\n<li>Assists the Director with implementing the department vision and assist in leading the department for maximum employee productivity and morale through hiring, disciplining, evaluating employee performance, investigating and resolving grievances and other human resources actions.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and prepare the annual preliminary budget for areas of responsibility; analyze and review budgetary and financial data; analyze budget records and operating costs; forecast expenditures, recommend capital expenditures and revise budgets according to established procedures; assist in monitoring revenues and expenses in compliance with the current Park Board approved budget.<\/li>\n<li>In coordination with deputy directors and managers, oversee an effective and efficient use of the department budget.<\/li>\n<li>Motivate and lead a high performance management team; mentor direct reports to cultivate skills<\/li>\n<li>Analyzes organizational needs, analyzes trends, reviews statistics and opportunities and communicates information to the director.<\/li>\n<li>Seeks and identifies initiatives and\/or processes that advance operational goals, including financial, customer service, and mission.<\/li>\n<li>Ensures that department conforms to local, state and federal governmental regulations, worker safety and other applicable rules and requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain professional knowledge through such means as attending conferences, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff through effective utilization of the Employee Performance Evaluation Program; interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions; plan, coordinate and arrange for appropriate employee training programs to provide for opportunity for advancement and to acquire necessary skills.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee department Alternative Workforce program to include the management of apprenticeship, internship and volunteer coordination.<\/li>\n<li>Attend a variety of staff and administrative meetings and represent parks and recreation on District committees; prepare and deliver oral presentations.<\/li>\n<li>Implement divisional responsibilities within the departmental Strategic Planning directives and initiatives; establish divisional benchmarks and performance measurement objectives in accordance with the adopted comprehensive Strategic Plan for the District.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/dd>\n<dt>Minimum Qualifications<\/dt>\n<dd>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Business Administration, Parks and Recreation Administration or a related field, and 5+ years\u2019 increasing responsibility (equivalent education\/experience may be substituted for stated requirements).<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated customer service skills; ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships within the organization and with outside vendors; superior interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse personalities; tactful; mature;
