Ideal candidates will be personable, creative, and adaptable. A strong understanding of native plant restoration projects is also highly recommended.<\/p>\n<p>Friends of Trees is committed to building a culturally diverse and inclusive environment. Candidates of color are strongly encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Role and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Our Green Space program is a well-recognized program in the region and it takes some work to keep that up! Here are some key program responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate with external project partners and internal program staff to build and maintain an annual calendar of volunteer restoration projects, maintenance schedules, and outreach strategies<\/li>\n<li>Implement restoration projects to support the equitable access to healthy green spaces for all communities<\/li>\n<li>Build and manage the active portfolio of GS program grants and contracts<\/li>\n<li>Track budgets and invoicing for completed work across multiple projects<\/li>\n<li>Collaborates with staff to maintain planting and survival rate data and prepares appropriate reports for partners and grants<\/li>\n<li>Supports the planting staff in maintaining and ordering all tree planting supplies<\/li>\n<li>Plans and attends 1-2 volunteer trainings per calendar year<\/li>\n<li>Plans and implements multiple K-12 education projects with the support of other GS team members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a Manager at Friends of Trees, you\u2019ll also be part of a stellar leadership team that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Actively participates in Strategic Planning and Organizational Operations discussions<\/li>\n<li>Attends staff meetings and retreats and reports on the status of GS program<\/li>\n<li>Designs and implements a plan to meet annual planting goals as stated in the organizational strategic plan<\/li>\n<li>Establishes infrastructure (systems and processes) for the Green Space program and documents these in writing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To accomplish these things, we will be looking for someone who has the following skills and background (or something comparable):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Technical Background:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience with writing and managing grants that sustainably fund an established-yet-growing program<\/li>\n<li>Trained in current restoration techniques and very familiar with native plant communities of\u00a0 the Pacific Northwest<\/li>\n<li>Have an academic background in natural resources management<\/li>\n<li>Skilled in using MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel and Access) and Google Suite; and open to learning new software programs as-needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Personnel and Soft Skills<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passionate about looking at the program through an equity and diversity lens<\/li>\n<li>Committed to working effectively with diverse community populations, and expected to\u00a0 strengthen such capacity if hired<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated time and project management skills<\/li>\n<li>Skilled in collaboration and teamwork<\/li>\n<li>Proven capacity to meet goals and deadlines<\/li>\n<li>Positive, flexible attitude during times of success as well as stress<\/li>\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills, experienced in supervision and the ability to flex communication\u00a0 styles to work with a diverse staff team<\/li>\n<li>Have self-motivation and the ability to tap into what motivates others<\/li>\n<li>Experience with implementation of environmental education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Physical and Logistical Requirements:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Loads and drives trucks to sites throughout the Portland and Salem Metro areas<\/li>\n<li>Must be willing and capable of moving large trees and tree planting tools<\/li>\n<li>Must be willing and capable of doing physical work outside in a variety of weather\u00a0 conditions throughout the year<\/li>\n<li>Have a desire to work both outdoors and in an office environment<\/li>\n<li>Able to work on Saturdays<\/li>\n<li>Helps keep the office workspace, tools and tool room and work vehicles in good condition.<\/li>\n<li>Have a valid driver\u2019s license and acceptable driving record<\/li>\n<li>Submits accurate record of time and expenses at month end<\/li>\n<li>Participates in fundraising for FOT general funds (events etc.)<\/li>\n<li>And other duties as assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience working with complex budgets<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with governmental contracts and drafting proposals<\/li>\n<li>Experience using ArcGIS<\/li>\n<li>Experience using Salesforce<\/li>\n<li>Able to speak a second language other than English<\/li>\n<li>Experience conducting interviews, onboarding staff and navigating HR related\u00a0 conversations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hours:\u00a0<\/strong>Tuesday \u2013 Saturday during planting season (Oct-May); Monday \u2013 Friday rest of year (June-Sept).\u00a0 Fairly flexible within that framework, establishes schedule and makes changes known<\/p>\n<p><strong>Office Location:\u00a0<\/strong>3117 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Portland, OR 97212.\u00a0 Close to TriMet Bus #6, we have a secured bike area, and we provide transportation to work field sites.\u00a0Stairs are required to access the office.\u00a0<i>While COVID regulations are in effect, this position will partially work remotely with weekly visits to the office (the office building\u00a0 follows COVID safety protocols and is minimally occupied).
