These dedicated grassroots volunteers are matched by a respected staff of project managers, lawyers, policy experts, and scientists, who work out of more than 40 offices across the country. In Washington, TU has 16 geographically-based chapters and statewide volunteer leadership is provided by the Washington Council. Our mission is to conserve, protect, and restore North America&#8217;s cold-water fisheries and their watersheds. We have a deep commitment to connecting local communities with their watersheds through hands-on learning, advocacy, and project engagement. TU believes restoring healthy watersheds and supporting thriving, diverse communities go hand-in-hand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TU is hiring a motivated and highly capable person to facilitate and execute habitat restoration and reconnection projects in the Chehalis River Watershed in Washington State. This project manager will take projects from start to finish: developing project concepts, obtaining project funding, and managing project implementation.<\/p>\n<p>TU has secured two years of funding for this position. The successful applicant will work with TU staff and stakeholders to secure additional funding for project activities and to cover core operational costs to sustain the program in future years.<\/p>\n<p>The Project Manager will be located in a TU office in or near the Chehalis Basin (location is flexible, including home office) and will be required to travel throughout the 2,600 square mile Chehalis Basin and to occasional staff meetings and conferences outside the state.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Work closely with TU staff and Washington Coast partners, stakeholders, and communities to develop and implement habitat restoration and reconnection projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Attend periodic Chehalis Basin salmon recovery Lead Entity meetings and Chehalis Basin Aquatic Species Restoration Program meetings to provide project updates, learn about project\/funding opportunities, and network with local and regional partners.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Work with local\/regional partners and TU staff to fundraise for both program and project support, including identifying potential funding sources, drafting grant proposals, and developing relationships with funders.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Manage on-the-ground construction for restoration\/reconnection projects and develop and implement monitoring plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Perform administrative duties including contracting, grant reporting, invoicing, and budget management.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Coordinate with TU staff and TU members to support science-based advocacy for salmon and steelhead conservation, as needed.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Participate in WA TU Council meetings, and periodically participate in chapter meetings.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Media work, including writing content for TU\u2019s social media platforms.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>This is not an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"job-listing-header\">Requirements<\/div>\n<div data-bind=\"html: Job.Requirements\">\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Required<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Bachelors or advanced degree<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 At least 2 years of experience working in the field of natural resource management, fish conservation, and\/or aquatic habitat restoration<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Understanding of natural resource management issues relevant to the conservation of trout and salmon and their habitats in Washington State<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Demonstrable success working with diverse stakeholders and building partnerships, specific experience working with tribes and state and federal agency staff a plus<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Outstanding verbal and written communication skills<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability to problem-solve and think creatively<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Chehalis Basin and occasionally beyond for staff meetings, conferences, etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Valid driver\u2019s license and own vehicle<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience using MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Passion for TU\u2019s mission<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desired<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience implementing habitat restoration projects and managing contractors<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Experience and\/or familiarity with salmon and steelhead habitat restoration project funding sources<\/p>\n<p>\u2022
