Inspire the next generation of STEM professionals by connecting youth with Puget Sound\u2019s wild lands and waters!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Program Description:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Great Peninsula Conservancy (GPC) Land Labs program will utilize local protected lands to enhance the quality of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education in Bremerton, Washington schools. Hands-on science projects will support the vision of the Washington State Environmental and Sustainability Literacy Plan and meet the requirements of Washington State Science and Learning Standards (WSSLS). The program will engage students directly in big picture environmental concerns affecting their local communities, and open students\u2019 eyes to professional opportunities in the environmental science field. The Land Labs program will help prepare students from low-income families and underachieving schools for success in post- secondary education and careers in STEM.<\/p>\n<p>Great Peninsula Conservancy (GPC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit land trust dedicated to protecting the natural habitats, rural landscapes, and open spaces of the Great Peninsula region of west Puget Sound, Washington.<\/p><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Member Duties:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Land Labs Education Coordinator VISTA will play an integral role in the design and development of the Great Peninsula Conservancy (GPC) Land Labs program. The Education Coordinator VISTA will foster relationships with participating schools, community members and stakeholders; write standards-based curriculum; train teachers; and ground truth the program. In addition, they will be part of the team developing the organizational capacity of GPC.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Primary Responsibilities:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Build relationships with local schools and community partners;<br \/>\n\u2022 Manage Land Labs program logistics and scheduling;<br \/>\n\u2022 Design Land Labs curriculum that aligns with Washington State Science Learning Standards;<br \/>\n\u2022 Ground truth teacher training workshops;<br \/>\n\u2022 Collaborate with a diverse team;<br \/>\n\u2022 Develop, maintain, and expand the Land Labs program.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"item-value\"><strong>Qualifications:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Passion for Great Peninsula Conservancy\u2019s mission and vision;<br \/>\n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in education, environmental science, or a related field;<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong writing skills;<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong communication skills;<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong organizational skills;<br \/>\n\u2022 High degree of initiative and spirit of service;<br \/>\n\u2022 Preferred: strong understanding of education standards and curriculum development;<br \/>\n\u2022 Preferred: experience teaching in formal or informal settings;<br \/>\n\u2022 Preferred: experience working at or managing summer camp programs.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"Position_Information\">\n<div class=\"GroupedField clear\">\n<div class=\"objectform-parent NoLines objectform-item-display\">\n<div><strong><label>Application Instructions:<\/label><\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"item-value\">Please review the full position description at <a href=\"http:\/\/greatpeninsula.org\/about\/careers\">greatpeninsula.org\/about\/careers<\/a> before applying.
