The EEO Officer is responsible for directing and overseeing comprehensive agency-wide federally-mandated to ensure compliance with the Federal Transportation Administration\u2019s regulations. EEO Officer reports directly to the General Manager with a dotted reporting line to the Assistant General Manager for Equity &amp; Impact. EEO Officer responsible for EEO Program management and oversight reflects the agency\u2019s EEO commitment. In this role, the EEO Officer will set strategic direction and agency-wide process outcomes for EEO compliance. Collaborating with Metro\u2019s Divisions, the EEO Officer advises, coordinates, develops, manages standard complaint and compliance process\/practices consistent with federal requirements.<\/p>\n<div id=\"_com_2\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Job Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applying equity and social justice principles is a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all King County employees. In this role, you will apply equity and social justice principles that exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices to all aspects of the work. As the\u00a0Metro designee responsible for carrying out the EEO Program, you will:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Ensure Metro\u2019s compliance with the Federal Transportation Administration\u2019s EEO compliance regulations, including setting goals and writing biennial reports. Serve as Metro\u2019s expert on EEO compliance, including advising management and other leaders on proactive compliance strategies, identifying state and national trends and best practices, and advising on ensuring equity and inclusion is infused into compliance.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee the resolution of reports of protected class discrimination, harassment, and related retaliation, including informal resolution and formal investigation processes; serves as the final decision maker for formal investigations.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise members of the EEO Compliance Office.<\/li>\n<li>Other duties as assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Degree in human resources, education, sociology, public administration, social justice, or related field AND five to eight years of progressively responsible, related experience in advancing equity, inclusion, and belonging in a complex organization, or equivalent (JD, MBA, M.Ed, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Clear evidence of managing the investigatory process and corresponding reports<\/li>\n<li>Professional experience in conducting and leading investigations<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of laws, programs, and practices related to Civil Rights (EEO, AA, ADA, anti-discrimination, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Evidence that training has been completed and documentable in one or more key aspects of Civil Rights: EEO, AA, ADA, and\/or anti-discrimination<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with human resources techniques and principles<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of policy development and analysis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PEOPLE LEADERSHIP AND MANAGERIAL COURAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of how to build relationships and treat all employees and customers equitably, with respect and dignity, as well as solve problems for the good of all<\/li>\n<li>Ability to build rapport and is easy to approach and talk to.<\/li>\n<li>Exhibit composure and practice attentive and active listening.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with federal, state, and\/or local regulatory agencies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>STRATEGIC AND OPERATING COMPETENCIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to make complex decisions in a timely manner and to deal with concepts and complexity comfortably, in a capable and agile manner.<\/li>\n<li>Skilled in using rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; Adheres to an appropriate (for the setting) and effective set of core values and beliefs during both good and bad times; acts in line with King County values.<\/li>\n<li>An ability to communicate well, in both oral and written communications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Supplemental Information<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application &amp; Selection Process<\/strong><br \/>\nAn online employment application and answers to the supplemental questions are required. Jackson St., Seattle, WA)<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Temporary Telecommuting Requirement<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nSome of the work associated with this position will be performed remotely, at least through July 5, 2021 in compliance with King County\u2019s telecommuting mandate. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. \u00a0Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
