O-HAZ resides as a research facility within the Department of Earth Sciences (ERTH), consisting of ERTH faculty, 7 full-time professional staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and temporary specialists. O-HAZ works with broad consortium of collaborators within the University of Oregon and with external groups across the Northwestern U.S.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Earth Sciences is an instructional department within the College of Arts and Sciences that supports significant research activities in a wide range of fields in Earth and Environmental Science. The Department includes approximately 30 faculty (including TTF and NTTF), many of whom have large research grants, 42 graduate students, 90 undergraduate majors, seven research associates, ten post-docs, two classified employees, eight student employees, emeriti faculty, and various visiting professors, courtesy professors, and career and pro tempore instructors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary<\/strong><br \/>\n<span class=\"Position-Summary\">The Oregon Hazards Lab (O-HAZ) seeks a skilled logistics specialist to pursue our mission of real-time, multi-hazards monitoring. Based in Eugene, OR at the University of Oregon (UO) within the Department of Earth Sciences, this position travels across Oregon and adjacent states to site, permit, and coordinate installation of seismic monitoring stations. On campus, activities will focus on formalization of permits, planning with O-HAZ staff, and coordination with external contractors. All work shall contribute to a system that collects scientific data to increase public safety and resiliency.<\/p>\n<p>We value the capacity to work independently with minimal direct supervision as well as in a highly coordinated fashion within a collegial team, both in the lab and the field. The position involves coordinating with the federal, state, and local agencies to define and employ best practices, and to communicate technological innovations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\n<span class=\"Minimum-Requirements\">\u2022 Bachelor&#8217;s degree in science, engineering, business, or other relevant discipline, or the equivalent experience<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Professional Competencies<\/strong><br \/>\n<span class=\"Professional-Competencies\">\u2022 Strong communication skills via phone, email, and in-person<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deliverable goals<br \/>\n\u2022 Proven ability to work well both autonomously and in a team-oriented group<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability and willingness to travel outdoors, off-road, and in adverse weather as needed<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge of NEPA processes and related documentation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications<\/strong><br \/>\n<span class=\"Preferred-Qualifications\">\u2022 Experienced in radio telemetry systems in both the licensed and unlicensed spectrum<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledgeable in basic networking protocols<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience with deploying scientific equipment in remote field settings<br \/>\n\u2022 Experience with UO Contracting<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"small\">The University of Oregon is proud to offer a robust benefits package to eligible employees, including health insurance, retirement plans and paid time off.
