Guided by our mission<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Inspiring Conservation of Our Marine Environment<\/span><\/em>,\u00a0<\/span>we have\u00a0<\/span>developed a master plan to substantially increase in size and impact by opening a new exhibit building, the Ocean Pavilion. Our current annual budget is $<\/span>20\u00a0<\/span>million.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Life Sciences\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>d<\/span><\/strong>epartment<\/span><\/strong>,<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Birds\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>and<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Mammals<\/span><\/strong>: The Birds and Mammals\u00a0<\/span>(BAM)<\/span>\u00a0t<\/span>eam comprise<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0seven animal care specialists and an associate curator, who are responsible for managing sea otters, harbor seals, northern fur seals, North American river otters, a variety of alcid and shorebird species, and a small number of fish and invertebrate species that inhabit the exhibits. The\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>urator is responsible for this team, the care and welfare of the animals, and managing an annual budget of approximately $1<\/span>\u00a0million<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Essential\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>f<\/span><\/strong>unction:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0In alignment with the Seattle Aquarium\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>m<\/span>ission and S.A.L.I.S.H. values, the\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>urator will provide leadership, management and continuous improvement of the BAM team\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>animal care specialists\u00a0<\/span>and animal husbandry programs. The\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>urator is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operations of the BAM team<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0including but not limited to<\/span>\u00a0the following:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
